Oh hell yeah! I'm not a huge country or quasi country guy but Merle is a fave. He transcended the country thing. I had the privilege of seeing 2 great shows with him. One he was opening for Dylan, the other was his show. He was in a really great mood that night & played beyond what his contract said he had to. This was on a reservation near Tacoma Washington in a town called Fife. He told a story about getting busted there on one of his jailbreaks from California. The band was superb.

Even though I'd been aware of them for a while I didn't get on the Alvvays train until around this time last year when I became addicted to "Archie, Marry Me." I can't say that I'm disappointed in the new album. More like, I've found myself becoming much more enamored by the latest from the Beths, Expert in A Dying Field. I believe Blue Rev may be a grower. Too soon to tell at this point as I'm only a couple listens in. I do know, that for the most part, I'm not finding myself as taken with it as their first two albums. It definitely has its moments though.

I'm a casual Alvvays fan. That was my first spin and I thought it sounded nice. I like their particular twist on the power pop genre.
