Many of my late nights at the 40 Watt are hazy, but I remember seeing neither Dean nor Beth streak. I will watch more closely this year.
Thanks to the band and any of you who may have had a had any influence on the change in dates. Attendance has been weighing heavily on my soul. I still hadn’t cancelled my hotel reservation, but I hadn’t even eaten in an indoor restaurant since March of 2020. I was leaning heavily toward skipping this year. Bryan, at the advice of his doc, had already decided not to go.
Hopefully we will all be together in April! Cheers and happy new year!
Booked a hotel room for 4/8 & 4/9. Not a sure thing by any means but there now is a chance that our respective HC streaks (Beth 2008, me 2009) will continue. We will see.
I'm very happy with the reschedule. Hopefully we'll be able to slip between variants, and having it in April also lessens chances for all of us to catch the garden variety crud that's so much more prevalent in winter months. And it's a huge bonus that TC and Lurleen may be able to attend. And hopefully we'll get Bryan too.
Still have to get approval from work for the new show dates, but feeling optimistic about it.

Great news. The reschedule is a tad disappointing only because I was looking forward to the time off, but makes sense and probably for the best in the long run. The upside is that maybe more folks can make it.
My flight tickets are flexible, but non refundable (they were expensive compared to previous years - so not sure what I was thinking back in May when they were ordered), so I have changed them to suit the new april dates... but I suppose it would be fair to say I am on the fence as to actually going or not. I guess it will be down to whether the current testing regime is maintained. Both flights in/out are Mondays (not many options these days), which - despite being tripple vaxxed - means I would have to get a test on a Sunday both for the inbound an outbound flights not before 24 hours of departure. Here in Norway that would set be back $250 for the outbound flight (and I haven't really looked into how and what it would imply for the return flight in terms of doability and cost). There is also the prospect of contracting the virus while in Athens and getting grounded with quarantine on some worn down airport hotel in Atlanta on my way home, missing the return flights with implications for work and family obligations etc...

Thanks for changing the dates on the heading, Doc.
Yeah, Tyler, I logged on specifically to note/"mourn" that the early birds should have already started to arrive in Athens. I'm glad there will be another opportunity in April.
RolanK, everything I'm reading says that barring an outbreak of another virulent strain of the virus, most of the world will be under a very different regime by April, one that is far more oriented towards "normality." Of course it may not happen that way and even if it does there may be exceptions or limitations but I wouldn't give up just yet.

Ha! "Return to normality" is what we were hearing last June.

I ate chili earlier this week and thought of y’all with some remorse over Homecoming weekend, but I’m honestly really relieved that Homecoming was delayed. As much as I want to participate, I haven’t even eaten in an indoor restaurant yet!
Anyway, chili….I was thinking if recipes from our chili cook off were ever compiled and printed in a book format, this might be feasible to sell as a fundraiser for Nuccis. “Heathens Chili Cookbook”.
Just a passing thought, which I posted in lieu of forgetting…
