Re: Gone but not forgotten....
I'd normally do this by PM, but since my PM function has not worked in some time, I can only say sorry for the medium and carry on. Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to get to know a little about Bryan. He lives on only so long as he is remembered and talked about and while there are plenty of people remembering and thinking of and talking about him today (and most days, I think) you are very welcome to that club. I'm curious, though, there are several obits/eulogies floating around so which obit did you find?Mundane Mayhem wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 9:56 amJust sought out the touching obit y’all put together. I read the one hosted by Brezniak Funeral Directors.
All it takes is one wicked heart, a pile of money, and a chain of folks just doing their jobs

RIP Rod Gilbert (that's zhil-BEAR to the hockey phobic among you). My favorite Ranger back when I cared about hockey and a New York institituion. Style, class and a wicked slap shot.

RIP Charlie. I'm devastated.
Re: Gone but not forgotten....
https://www.theringer.com/2021/8/24/226 ... s-obituaryYou can use this video to nerd out on Charlie’s legendarily spartan Gretsch drum kit or his mythological technique: the grip changes, the snare hits closer to the logo than the center, or Steve Albini’s observation that Charlie never hits the snare and the high hat at the same time, which “moves the focus away from the pulse and onto the gait of his playing.” (Steve is unverified, but he starts out by describing Charlie as “the only good thing about the Rolling Stones,” so it’s him.) Or you can thrill to the fleeting and blurry antics of Mick and Keith, who peacock in and out of the frame, first-name-basis pantheon rock stars who nonetheless clearly defer to their far more stoic pantheon rock star drummer. “Charlie Watts has always been the bed that I lie on musically,” Keith notes in his 2010 memoir Life, reviewing 1963 diary entries in which he marvels as his outlandishly stylish new drummer morphs from a Jazz Guy to a Rock ’n’ Roll Guy who still swings with the magnificent swagger of a Jazz Guy.
Or you could just watch the boys blaze through all five minutes of “All Down the Line” and marvel that Charlie himself, comically regal and already long past retirement age in the late 2000s, is never out of breath, even if he allows himself one puffed-cheek sigh when the song’s over, which might be the only time I’ve ever seen him acknowledge the Herculean effort of anything he’s ever done.

Sigh. At this point it's obviously generational and it's just gonna get worse. Very sad.chuckrh wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 5:09 amRIP sax legend Pee Wee Ellis. Played with James Brown & Van Morrison to name a few of many.

RIP Roger Angell, imho the best baseball writer ever. Among my most favorite writers period. He didn't do mediocre, much less bad, but if you need a place to start, check out his profile of Bob Gibson or his account of attending a Yale .v St John's baseball game w/ Smokey Joe Wood in which the starting pitchers were Ron Darling and Frank Viola. I won't ruin it w/ spoilers.
