Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I feel your pain. I've got some of the most obnoxious "people" ever living above me. Part of the me me me generation who think nothing of hammering stuff in the middle of the night, dropping crap, slamming doors etc. They're pretty much at a sociopath level. They are so stupid that one has to believe that they are deliberately trying not to be intelligent. Glad you are getting some relief. In the meantime I'm preparing a Slayer presentation for about 3 AM after they're asleep. Old Klingon proverb: vengenance is a dish best served cold. Perhaps a bunch of Hank Williams Sr instead, they really hate that!tinnitus photography wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 8:15 pmmy upstairs neighbor, walking around.

i've been obsessed with this album for bout a year and counting. its exactly what it says it is. billy strayhorn taking a rare spotlight to deliver 10 of his best songs his way. some are solo piano, some add the slightest amount of bass, some add a wordless vocal chorus. its all so soft id call it ambient if it weren't so impeccably and deliberately arranged.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
been really enjoying getting into zeitlins piano playing lately. i may be reading too much into his dual careers as jazz pianist/practicing psychiatrist, but his stuff is so dreamy even at its most far out. this is another one that does exactly what it says, in this case solo piano takes of early wayne shorter gems. its as good as id hoped

Do you know Joe Henderson's album, Lush Life? If not the subhead kind of gives it away: The Music of Billy Strayhorn.Shakespeare wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 9:35 am

i know it, but not super well. lush life is one of my favorite songs so anyone covering that pretty much has my interest right off the bat
kinda independently gotten very into joe since i first heard that album, so its a good time to revisit that one

The cover of Watermelon Man on Summer of Soul put me in the mood for Herbie Hancock.
