From Patterson

Y’all,
I’m assuming everyone out there in 3DD Land knows but tomorrow is my 3rd Heathen Attic show.
I’ve been working my ass off putting together a celebration of my weird and mostly wonderful family in honor of George A. Johnson’s 100th birthday.
It’s an emotionally riveting work, at least a 9 on the Brian’s Song Scale of making grown men cry in their bacon and beer.
It features songs inspired by family folklore (largely true) including My Sweet Annette, Box of Spiders, I Do Believe and of course Sands of Iwo Jima,
It also includes readings from my book in progress that pertain as well as several unreleased newer songs (including 2 that I finished this week in preparation of the show).

I realize that none of this takes the place of a real Rock and Roll Show, but we do what we have to and as of right now, this seems to be my new job so I’m trying to make it as artistically challenging as possible.

It’s on NoonChorus at 6PDT/9EDT Wed. May 27th.
It’ll be up for 48 hours if anyone wants to see it later or again.
It’ll probably be a little longer than these things tend to be due to the material at hand.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

And we're off! Love the round microphone. Provides a nice old timey radio atmosphere, perfect for tonight, I'd say.

"Cemeteries". Pretty poignant in the current era.

Don't know the 2nd song, which certainly followed the story that preceded it. Loved the line about the Delta 88 big enough to have a playground in the back seat. :)

Now "Leaving Time." :)

"Heaven is the pace of a slow news day" from "Pinocchio." He wasn't writing about our news cycle but man that is dead on right now.

Beautiful version of "My Sweet Annette." Reminds me of our old friend from 9B/3dd by that name. She was a pistol and i wish she was still around.

"LIttle Bonnie." Yeah. We'll see if I can hang in.

Following w/ "Righteous Path" which is kind of a strange segue but greatness is greatness.

"Sands of Iwo Jima" is otherworldly. Incredible. No surprise what w/ George A's bday being yesterday and the whole family theme. But still, damn.

Glenn- The "Panthers" one is called "The Put Upon." It was recorded with the Dickinsons. I only know that because you can see the lyrics in a picture Patterson posted on Instagram at the time.

I saw the list on FB but I'm not on there so I can't comment there :D

Thanks for doing the yeoman's work of capturing these setlists. Your penmanship is quite pleasing to the eye, btw.

What are we calling the 1st new song? Miss Ann Coldiron's Oldsmobile? Miss Coldiron?

edit: on FB

I had the title (Ann) before I wrote the song but there is a validity in having Miss in the title to push the unmarried older woman of her time aspect of the narrative. Thoughts?

:o Didn't see that. It's not often that one gets invited to opine on the best name for a song. What did you say?
