That's a great cover of "Motion Pictures (For Carrie)".tinnitus photography wrote:Steve Gunn - Livin' In Between (recent three song digital-only release of three covers (Neil, Misfits, Michael Chapman)

it's really strange to hear Misfits lyrics in a stripped-bare approach. this is another one:

Great little tune. Having watched some live clips of the band on youtube it seems to be a frequent show opener?cortez the killer wrote:The club is open...RolanK wrote:

The Pollard pool is always a bit intimidating to wade into due to its size, and my general struggle with super lo-fi stuff. But there are multiple times one of his more accessible tunes has blown my lid off. "I Am a Tree" and "Glad Girls" come immediately to mind.cortez the killer wrote:Are you amplified to rock?Iowan wrote:
Was reading through the GBV thread, and based on your descriptor figured this was a good spot to engage the lower fidelity era, and still get some killer hooks out of the deal. So far so good. Time to set the whiskey glass down and have a beer.

Time willing, if you play this album 5-7 times over the next week, I guarantee these snippets and melodies will weave their way deep into your psyche. You will be sitting on that tractor randomly belting shit out like, "Parallel lines on a slow decline!" to nobody for no reason in particular.Iowan wrote:The Pollard pool is always a bit intimidating to wade into due to its size, and my general struggle with super lo-fi stuff. I haven't seen enough shows to know if it's a frequent show opener, but it should be. Phenomenal tone setter for a show or a playlist/mix tape.RolanK wrote:Great little tune. I'm a huge PF fan, but so much of this is brand new to me. Crazy how many recordings the band was just sitting on for 50 years
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

Yeah, I've long debated whether to pick up the Early Years box set but I've heard a bunch of this stuff recently and am amazed like Zip.
The recent Youtube viewing of KQED An Hour With Pink Floyd from April '70, I think sealed it for me. So good.

I really wish "Awful Bliss" was another 1:30 longer. Tobin Sprout is pretty great.

I'm leaning more Bee Thousand than Alien Lanes right now. I'm really finding some good stuff in the nooks and crannies. It's becoming clear that's a big part of the GBV/Pollard appeal.cortez the killer wrote:Back-to-back classics right there.Iowan wrote:Iowan wrote:
