Was intrigued by your thread on these guys. One of those band I've been aware of for years but never got around to dive in properly. Now is the timecortez the killer wrote:RolanK wrote:NP:

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Being that they're from North Carolina, I get to see these guys a bunch. Saw them on 1/18-a week after this show (Lilly Hiatt solo acoustic opened!).Came out thinking they're my second favorite live band right now (also go and see Phil Cooke's band if you get the chance--smokin). My local record store had a Get Out the Vote thing just before the 2018 elections. MC came by and did an acoustic set. No amplification. Loving this. He does a house show at Josh and Janette Nicholls every Christmas. Here's the trio from 12/15/18 with a few of the new songs. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fkfiuzt392wa ... a1Qaa?dl=0 FYI--those pants are purplebovine knievel wrote:never trust a man in skinny pantsIowan wrote:I'm going to have to spin this given the 95% overlap between what I like and what Clams likes, but I've never been grabbed by his other records, and those pants are almost a non-starter from the git-go.Clams wrote:

I logged in to post something very similar. I don’t know about 95% but you and Clams and I usually like the same records and so for Caleb Caudle is one of those “what am I missing?” artists to me. I haven’t listened to this yet but am going to give it a try.Iowan wrote:I'm going to have to spin this given the 95% overlap between what I like and what Clams likes, but I've never been grabbed by his other records, and those pants are almost a non-starter from the git-go.Clams wrote:

Lake Marie is my favorite Prine song some days.
It encapsulates all the things that make him great.

At the very least, his best song to hear live. He was in his 70s on stage moving like a man half a century younger.Iowan wrote:Lake Marie is my favorite Prine song some days.

John Prine - This Missing Years. (sorry I can't seem to get a pic to post on this forum to save my life)
This album was my introduction to him in middle school. My step dad was pretty obsessed with this album, along with Bruce Hornsby and the Range as well as Eric Clapton, August. When I would visit on the weekends it seemed like The Missing Years was always his go to album for Sunday evening dinners, lots of great memories. Ive listened to it a few times in the last 18 or so hours, still sounds as good as it ever did, had been awhile since I gave it a proper listen.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
The Missing Years was my introduction too. I was probably ten or eleven and I started spending a lot of time with my aunt and her husband because they had this place in a gorgeous little valley/holler in middle Tennessee that had a creek I'd fish and play in. They played this thing and his greatest hits constantly. Twenty five years later I still associate The Missing Years with that place.bovine knievel wrote:My second favorite.walthers wrote:John Prine - This Missing Years. Thanks for the picture Bovine.
Yeah, it is funny how some albums can transport you back to a certain place, this is one of those for sure.
