Status of all songs in live setlist

Post by Tyler »

Bit of a research project I've been working on.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... yr/pubhtml

A few notes...

Right now I'm not including covers. I plan to, just, NOT YET! That's a _lot_ of songs.

Note there are a few filtered sub displays accessible via the links at the top

As expected, American Band and the Unraveling are currently in heavy rotation.

Rather surprisingly, the least represented album is Go-Go Boots, with only 3 songs at all being played any more, and all 3 of them rarely.

Corrections, suggestions, and comments gladly accepted.

Very interesting, thanks for doing all the work.

The in-activity / ultra rarity on "recent" releases Go-Go Boots and The Big To Do and English Oceans is telling...? Interesting...?

This is awesome, thanks for sharing. Will be curious to see how songs from American Band and The Unraveling stand the test of time.
Turn it up to 10 and rip off the knob

It's fun looking to see how many Inactive and Ultra Rarities I've seen them play.

Good job Tyler.

Would be cool to see a column for the author of the song as well. (Just so we could see how many Cooley songs are inactive) :o

This is way more interesting and yes, way more fun, than I thought at first glance. Great job, Tyler.

Love this - thanks for putting this together Tyler! I am struck by the number of 'rarities' that were played in Toronto during the three night stand last July. Lucky moi (amoungst others, of course)

Yea, as was I. The Birmingham run in late 2018 was another with a bunch of rare stuff.

It really isn't surprising... when they book 3 consecutive nights somewhere it's a market that is catering more to the hardcores.

Man I feel lucky to have seen a bunch of the really rare ones. One thing that jumped out at me was, can we bring back Santa Fe?

No, that has to go to Lee Edwards.

He wrote a thesis (like, a real college thesis) on DBT.

This is awesome, thanks for sharing it.

One typo -- you have Ramon Casiano listed as Patterson.

Awesome! Curious how long something has to go unplayed until it's inactive? They did do Panties in Your Purse at the Brooklyn Bowl last summer :D

I don't have a hard rule.

The big key for me is relative frequency over time. So some of the newer songs that are inactive went from being played about every other show to not being played at all, such as Ever South. Other songs I consider active have gone over two years, but they've just _never_ been played that often anyway.

For me, Ramon Casiano is a perfect song, both in writing and execution... and timeless
I would like to apologize to anybody that I have not offended. Please be patient, I will get to you.

Hopefully Patterson takes a look at the “uber rarities” and “inactive” songs on this list so we’ll have a lot of spreadsheet changes come Sunday morning. :D
