I love the honesty in this interview. Patterson and Cooley continue to write what they want and have no problem expressing their true feelings in their songs and interviews. I’m excited to hear this new album and see how it all plays out at the shows.

Wow. I've never heard Cooley quite like that before. I don't know what it means, or that it means anything but it sure is interesting and eye opening. And what did the interviewer say? "One of the most important songs of the past 20 years"? I'm guessing that's gonna be worth hearing :)

Smart move to get in front of the writers block so it doesn’t control the narrative and keeps the focus on the music

I'm traveling in a country that No Depression has apparently blocked from visiting its site. Anybody willing to do a quick copy-paste job for me? Slide into those PMs.

Loved that quote also, once again Cooley says it best.
Can’t say I’ve been as proud to be a ‘ride or die’ fan for any band as much as the DBT.

I don't find that interview grim. I find it angry.

It has a "fuck you" vibe. Which is always a good vibe to have on a rock and roll album.

I've said it before: all evidence suggests that Cooley's a bit of a stonecutter. The "problem" is one great phrase is easy. He ain't done till there's a whole song of 'em.

(A while ago I wrote something here about "worrying" about him, and writer's block, on a "personal" level, which is of course ridiculous.)
I’d have a lot of nerve to go feigning shock and outrage/If I'd been my example I’d be worse

Definitely a stone cutter. Hood is a master story teller and Cooley is a poet who weighs every word.

I feel Thoughts and Prayers is an even more important song for the times than anything on AB and that’s saying something! Very well done, I love it!

Of all the songs on the album I've heard them play live (so everything but that second Cooley song), this one has always been my favorite, and the studio version delivers. Love that little guitar lick Cooley (?) is doing, and Jay's piano is sublime.

Word. Haven't heard any of these new songs live versions yet, so today was my first listen. Loving it!

Kinda don't know how to feel about that song. It's all the things it should be (pissed off, visceral, topical, etc.)....but is it....good? Is it even important if it is?

There's a lot to digest here
