My .02
I know there may be some people who got shut out of Saturday night, but I really think everyone had an opportunity to purchase tickets. Yes, I know they sold out in hours on Saturday, but it was not like it was minutes. Friday took another day and Thursday took a week. I am not saying that it won't be a problem in the future...who knows. Those of us that have been coming for 10+ years can't wait to buy tickets. We plan on it, we start talking about it in October, we plaster it all over our pages as soon as the announcement. I do believe those that are regulars do get taken care of and rightly so. I also know for a fact that there are people out there that buy extras for this purpose. There are also those that know how to get things done, people I would go to if I was in a jam for tickets. I think most of you know who these people are, some only have to look in the mirror. It is part of what makes this group so cool. I don't know another group like this.

As for the three day passes, I would actually pay more for a three day pass. It takes out the headache of having three different ticket orders. I also think they should have a 3 night wrist band like festivals do to keep from having to check in every night. It makes a nice little memento and could if someone at the 40 watt/DBT was so disposed, lead to sponsorships from various business around Athens. Discounts on food and beverages at restaurants and bars around town for those wristbands holders. There are over 500 of us. We spend money( a Lot of it) on lodging, food, drinks, and in my wife's case shopping.

Lastly, and I think this goes for a lot of us "regulars", the weekend is not all about the shows. Yes, I go to all of them, but I believe I could go and not attend and be good. It is more about the friends you have made over the years and in many case only see a few times a year. The meet up, Nuci's, the run ins around town, all make it what it is.

Bingo. Must have been the year before last I remarked to Emily that I thought if the band ever broke up or retired (or god forbid Cooley's liver gave out or something), Homecoming would still continue in some capacity as a fan thing. I'd still want to go anyway.

While I agree generally it should be noted that Saturday night sold out in approximately 38 minutes during the general sale. So yes, everyone had an opportunity to purchase tickets but it was a very limited opportunity.

It was actually. Saturday sold out at 10:47AM.

That's 47 minutes.

I understand that it sold out fast. I said hours, one says 38 minutes, one says 47 minutes........ whatever If you got on at 10 you could buy your tickets in 5 minutes and have enough time for an episode of the Andy Griffith Show before they sold out. We all knew it was going to sell quickly, that's why many of buy Saturday tix first. That being said I know many people who were waiting at 10am to purchase the rest of the tickets they needed, myself included. I also saw a few instances of people who knew they could not be online then and asked for help. As always, the Trucker nation came through.

I was simply correcting your point that people had hours to buy tickets and not minutes. They didn’t, it was well less than an hour. It was much faster than even last year, which until this year had been the fastest sell out in HC history (last year did actually take a few hours, and people were surprised by that). For what it’s worth the discrepancy between the 47 and 38 minute is that it was posted as sold out at 10:47, but from what I can tell it had actually sold out about 10 minutes before. Not that any of this minutia really matters of course lol

donation for auction

Post by tfly »

Hey there, My wife does a little leather work. She is thinking about making some flasks with nice leather covering with something dbt worked into the leather. I've had one for years and they are quite handy for crowded shows. Who do we contact to donate a couple to the auction this year?

I've created an "Heathens Attending" spreadsheet with responses from the FB group. I don't know everyone here's handle vs. real name, but if you'd like me to add you, I can. (Or request edit privileges, and I'd be happy to give 'em).

Arrival
Shows Attending
Special Notes ("I want to go to Weaver D's; staying at The Daze," etc...)

I haven't even looked at the spreadsheet yet but I've already got a love/hate relationship w/ it. OT1H, there's the wonder of it all a la TC's comment and the probable convenience of the spreadsheet as a resource. OTOH, rock n roll and spreadsheets are very strange bedfellows.
