I don't like buses that leave ahead of schedule. In other news, don't count on me for Adam's House Cat, and don't expect to give me any rides from Atlanta tomorrow. And if you are by some chance driving from Little Rock or Memphis tomorrow--or for that matter, through Little Rock tonight--I've got gas money. And probably an Adam's House Cat ticket for someone. The number to call'd BR-240-8430 (you can look up the Little Rock area code) and a text will not wake me, so call if you must!

Oh, I'll be there, all right. Maybe not tonight, but I'll be there. I'm actually a little tickled that for once, a travel plan went south on me without it being my fuckup.

Beaverdamsfinlaw and I are on the road. Nashville took longer than expected, and I’m hoping ATL is better, but I realize that I’ll be hitting the city at rush hour. Regardless I’ll see y’all at some point tonight if the good Lord’s willing and the creek don’t rise!

So I will make it in time to catch tonight's show. My bus had a scheduled two-hour layover from nine till eleven last night. At two in the morning, they told us to come get our tickets rejiggered. I thought I'd get the six o'clock departure for a noon Atlanta arrival, but no: Leaving at ten and getting in at six. That's approximately when I got to town for the first time in 2011.

But I got a cheap night in an Elvis-themed hotel with Jailhouse Rock playing in the lobby and four hours sleep. I think making it through tonight calls for hard drugs, so I'm going to drink not one, but two Red Bulls. Party on, Wayne.

My faith in "Always Go To The Show" is being tested. This bus was also full and I have been bumped to a one o'clock departure and an eleven o'clock Atlanta arrival. That's just no damn good at all. I'm going to look for a rental car and get there when I can. I think. I hope. I may have a Thursday night ticket available. We'll see how it goes.

I've seen Jay do his AM Gold set several times but last night was a whole different animal. He was in great voice and got to cherry pick the best songwriters from his repertoire. The duet with Patterson on Hello It's Me was amazing. I hope someone has a set list. And AHC blew the doors off as well. I was grinning from ear to ear when Cooley grabbed the bass for Smiling At Girls. What a great start to the weekend!

It’s too bad AHC doesn’t have more songs in the catalog because last night was absolutely fantastic. Could have gone for another hour , easily. Great way to kick off Heathens Homecoming.

Last night was “low stakes”, super relaxed, pure fun from jump.

Jay’s song selection—Nilsson, Raspberries, Joe Jackson, so much more, with a big medley including “destruction” of the music stand, a la Pete Townshend (Not really)—was designed to make sing-alongs happen, which they did. Jay’s spirit, talent, and immense likeability came through.

AHC were terrific. Cooley on bass was a treat. Patterson taking obvious joy in playing THESE songs in THAT place (where the original AHC never trod).

It’s part Chuck vs. Brad, and part the songs themselves, but so interesting to hear the difference in feel of the songs, AND hear the roots of what came next.

Tonight will be different and of course, amazing.

Isn't that enough? In other news, I've love to hate myself by looking at a set list and seeing what I missed.

Just 2 hours from hitting the road, I’ve been staring at the clock since work started today. Only got to listen to a couple minutes of the stream last night because of internet issues, but did I hear Wichita Lineman during Jay’s set?
