Staying relevant: Cooley changed "from Chinese troops to terrorists" in Ramon to something I didn't quite catch and "caravans." Much of the audience caught it and responded positively(see first paragraph above).
I didn't catch it at the show either, but listening to a tape it sounds like "From Ebola to caravans." He just draws out the pronunciation - "Eeee-bow-luh" - that makes it sound like it could be two words. At the show I thought he said "Evil blooded caravans" but that doesn't make sense in a sentence that starts with "From..." So yeah, I'm pretty sure it is "From Ebola to caravans."

Yes! However that subconscious memory thing works, as soon as I read "Ebola" i said "yes! that's exactly what it was!" I'm calling it official :)

Late to post. Enjoyed the Cville show and he was in rare form re: interacting with the crowd. First set was tight, almost too tight. Second set was Id Cooley. Uncle Frank was a bit abstract, and they never did snake those logs up the hill if I recall... That guitar kept throwing fits. I don't know if it was new strings, needing a roadie to tune, or just a shit guitar, but I kept wishing the high e-string would just break and spare us all... Wouldn't have traded the night to be anywhere else, for sure. A privilege to be in the room with him, no matter what he decides to smoke/drink intermission... Always appreciate his songs even more solo for some reason - strip away the rest and those are some pretty damn fine words and tunes...
