Not sure if it’s enough for repeated listens, but it’s a great story and the similarities between his and his grandfather’s voices are eerie. Will be interested to see where he goes from here.Clams wrote:

Yeah, I was late to the party too with the new Courtney Barnett. Finally picked it up a few months ago. Could NOT stop listening to it. About ready to try the album before that one- as I recall, that one got a fair amount of hoopla around these here parts as well.RolanK wrote:Late to the party (sort of) with these

Sophie Pfister, Birdcage
Hard to describe: jazzy singer-songwriter roots soul? She sounds kinda like an American PJ Harvey if PJ Harvey was a Mexican-Irish chanteuse from LA. But man, what a record.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Yeah, I'm a huge Dolphy fan and was really bummed that I couldn't make it to my local vinyl emporium to score one on black Friday RSD. I almost pulled the trigger on an aftermarket offering through Discogs that was about 20 bucks higher (which still would have been well worth it to me), but decided I'd better wait until after the holidays. Then, lo and behold, when I dropped by a week later there was one left. Luck o' the heathen strikes again.Jonicont wrote:Excellent
I already have the Douglas sessions on some other versions, but this sounds so much better than any of them and the unreleased stuff is amazing.
Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Just about ready to start the second go-round with this album while I pore over The Book again and again.
