Thanks Allison and WWCD for the above posts which got me to checking out this record. What a crazy album. "You are the Problem" is awesome.allisonsdc wrote:Nine of ten times, ten out of nine times, YOU are the problem...whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:

John Baumann. Nice! Dude writes some brilliant little character sketches. “Midland” and “Congratulations” on that one are both sneakily cutting/devastating.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:

Glad you dig it! I'm going to see him on 11/13 in DC, but he's playing Philly on 11/10. If you don't already have plans, I hope you can make it - he's awesome live.Clams wrote:Thanks Allison and WWCD for the above posts which got me to checking out this record. What a crazy album. His last album, Heavy Meta, is great. On the new album, "It's All Gonna Be OK" is my favorite track, but there are lots of gems. "Love Supreme" is catchy. And "OM" isn't really a song but it's hilarious. Can't wait to see him on 11/13. I hope he has his "Ron Gallo Is the Shirt" shirts for sale. They're ridiculous.
I keep it all together for the sake of the kids.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Hey, you posting it reminded me that I actually owned this EP, so thanks. I am, unfortunately, such a prodigious purchaser of music that I sometimes forget things I have in my collection. This is the only thing I have of his and I really dig it, he's a great songwriter for sure. I think his songs might work better with a grittier voice but hey, nothing's perfectIowan wrote:John Baumann. Nice! I dove into his catalog heavily, and there are great songs all through out. Don’t disagree with your assessment of his voicewhatwouldcooleydo? wrote:Hey, you posting it reminded me that I actually owned this EP, so thanks. Getting a big Badfinger vibe from this, and that's a very good thing in my book!cortez the killer wrote:+1John A Arkansawyer wrote:This would have been huge on FM radio. It's really great!
This is very nice!
On a few songs his voice sounds as if the voice of Steve Marriott and the collective voice of Badfinger had a baby

Never heard of Eric Ambel until about 2 weeks ago when I saw the bottle Rockets live. Apparently he produced the new bbottle Rockets record and he also produced the new record by Sarah Borges, and she opened the bottle Rockets show. Her backing band consisted of two of the bottle Rockets on bass and drums and, you guessed it, Eric Ambel on guitar. He sounded really good. Also I believe the nickname he goes by is Roscoe. And Sarah Borges was really good.scotto wrote:

Roscoe has produced quite a few Bottle Rockets records.Clams wrote:Never heard of Eric Ambel until about 2 weeks ago when I saw the bottle Rockets live. He was/is also a member of the Del Lords. They've released some really good stuff.
He's also worked with Jimbo Mathus and I believe he was an original member of Joan Jett's band.

I heard Eric Ambel is a charter member of the Guitartown newsletter community.
