Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

Had the opportunity to see Marie/Lepanto last night in a house show with a room full of musicians. Of the maybe 22-25 people there I think there were 6 of us who weren’t working musicians and to watch these pros marvel at Will Johnson and Justin Peter Kinkel-Schuster do their thing was something else. Kel Kellum sat in on pedal steel for a few cuts which just added the the whole thing. Amazing evening.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

What did you think? The wife has tickets to see her on Friday night in Chicago and I need to figure out whether I should try to find a baby sitter and tag along.

Sarah Shook? Looks like 70's Ozzy Osbourne to me in this photo.

First off, I think you have a very cool wife.

Second, definitely go. Not sure where she's playing in Chicago but here, as you can see in the pic, she played a full-on show in a tiny bar. There wasn't even a stage, just a spot for her entire 5 piece band in the corner. She's got great songs and a great band, whiskey swillin' and honky tonkin'. And her drummer was wearing a DBT shirt. Great fun on a Friday night.

Fucking nobody. Been out of work for 5 months due to bad knees, the first of which will be replaced in June. I can't stand for longer than 10 minutes, and can barely sit in a regular chair for more than 30. So no knees, no money, no shows. Hopefully 2019 will go a different way. I'm livin' through y'all.

The new Disarmers' drummer is Kevin McClain, formerly of American Aquarium. He's a really cool guy. Hockey player trapped in a drummer's body. He's a hardcore cyclist, too. On one of AA's tours, he biked to & from every show. If y'all catch him, tell him Jeff & Amy say hi.

I have people in town from China that I am entertaining or I'd be there. As I'm sure you know from experience, one should look for any chance possible to see an act at the Empty Bottle. Bite (the BYOB restaurant next door to the Empty Bottle) has excellent food. And all of the times I have been to the Empty Bottle the $5 PBR tall boy and shot of Whiskey combo points me in the right direction.
Don't be like me. Go to the show!

Fixed that for ya, tin, and ditto, roland. hang in there. I'm at that stage where i know a lot of people in the same boat and based on everything I've seen and heard you will hopefully be on the upswing w/in a few months of the surgery.

All of you guys are right: my wife is very cool, the Empty Bottle is a great small place to see a band, and always go to the show. So, of course, I'm apparently doing the opposite, staying at home with the kids while the wife goes with one of her buddies. Mostly because of logistical reasons not related to the show. I'm sure it will be great, but probably not nearly as fun as watching Shrek for the 8th time. Clams, your fault.
