3DD Forum downtime over the weekend
Apologies to everyone for the board being down this weekend. The attempted upgrade from phpBB 3.0.14 to 3.2.2 resulted in a corrupted database, which then needed to be dropped and restored. The database is so large, however, that the web client kept failing on the upload. As a result, I had to acquire some other software and restore the database in a different manner, which took some time. The upgrade has been rolled-back for now, and we're planning to migrate the site to a new server with greater capacity so that the issues encountered with the upgrade this weekend won't occur again (hopefully ).
We will post a notice in advance of the upgrade to let you know when we plan to do it again (which will be after the site is migrated to the new, dedicated server -- probably early next month), so you'll know what's going on in case we do experience any issues or downtime during the upgrade to the latest version of phpBB.
FWIW, this was all Clams's fault.

I keep it all together for the sake of the kids.

I'm now calling our fearless leader, Dr. Jonicont, "General Error." Major Cox will serve as his aide de camp.

I hear the emoticon menu is greatly expanded. But we'll see what the webmistress suggests. Do you have any suggestions ( MY GOD what have I done )Zip City wrote:What new features were (are) to be included in the update?

No, I was just curious what was improved an incremental upgrade vs. jumping to phpbb 4.0Jonicont wrote:I hear the emoticon menu is greatly expanded. But we'll see what the webmistress suggests. Re: 3DD Forum downtime over the weekend
4.0 is still in development; it hasn't been released yet.
3.2.2 is the most current stable release of phpBB, and the 3.0.x versions are no longer supported in the phpBB forum, meaning that those discussion support threads are closed. The biggest noticeable difference for users in the 3.2.2 upgrade is that it is mobile enabled. Also, it allows for the addition of extensions that were requested by 3DD members, such as the "like" button.

Ah, for some reason I thought that was 4.0. The Cubs forum I'm on has the extension you're talking about ("like" button, embedded twitter/youtube/facebook, mobile enhanced, etc)allisonsdc wrote:4.0 is still in development; it hasn't been released yet.

I really liked that you could insert polls into regular posts back on 9B.
E quindi uscimmo a riveder le stelle.

What does that mean??allisonsdc wrote:The biggest noticeable difference for users in the 3.2.2 upgrade is that it is mobile enabled.
How do I obtain or use use the extensions and like button?allisonsdc wrote:Also, it allows for the addition of extensions that were requested by 3DD members, such as the "like" button.

Re: 3DD Forum downtime over the weekend
If you bring up the site on a mobile device, it looks totally different and is sized/formatted for a mobile device.Clams wrote:What does that mean??allisonsdc wrote:The biggest noticeable difference for users in the 3.2.2 upgrade is that it is mobile enabled.
The extensions would be built in for everyone to use, there are just a variety that the Admins can choose from. The "like" button is a little heart icon to the right of the post that you can click to "like" the post. The heart has a number next to it indicating the number of likes the post hasClams wrote:How do I obtain or use use the extensions and like button?allisonsdc wrote:Also, it allows for the addition of extensions that were requested by 3DD members, such as the "like" button.
