I still don't understand Missouri being in the SEC period, but the east? Ok. I don't know that I will ever see them as anything other than a team that was foisted upon us. Nothing about it makes sense.Iowan wrote:Thanks to conference realignment we have the following historic, regional matchups going today:

I have read it actually, also saw on ESPN Insider that he would 100% accept the job if it was offered. I wouldn’t put him in my top 5 of most desirable coaches, but I think he has the chance to be very good somewhere and would be a monumental upgrade over our current situation.Cole Younger wrote:Are you hearing this rumor that Tennessee might be considering giving Joey Freshwater (Kiffin) a call? I think in the next 10 years that they, along with Arkansas, will be back in the Big 12. It's a better regional fit for both, and for Arkansas it provides an out from a division they will never stand a chance in.Cole Younger wrote:I still don't understand Missouri being in the SEC period, but the east? The Big 12 gets shit on by the media, but it's ahead of both the ACC and Pac 12 in terms of profitability, and barely behind the Big 10 and SEC. Texas and Oklahoma aren't going to leave to be someone's odd fit. Nebraska was their canary in the coal mine on that front.
The conference situation has gotten absurd, and you're seeing a decline in interest for some of those misfit schools, who are also - as you pointed out - drawing little interest from their new homes.

Re: college football 2014/2015/2016/2017
I've always thought of the Big 12 as a pretty good conference. Definitely better than the BigInteger and the PAC whatever they are now. The only knock I have ever seen on the. Big 12 is I generally feel like their games are decided by whoever has the ball last. Not a lot of strong defense usually but a lot of good offense. But that may just be my impression.Iowan wrote:I think in the next 10 years that they, along with Arkansas, will be back in the Big 12. Re: college football 2014/2015/2016/2017
People's biases towards conferences (including my own) rarely take reality into perspective. The default setting is that the SEC is top dog, and everyone else is battling for #2. But outside of Bama and Georgia, what SEC team is really that good? I'd argue that the Big 12 has better 3rd/4th/5th best teams than the SEC does. I'm a Big 10 guy, but I don't really know how good anyone is yet (but will soon, as we have UM @ PSU this week, and PSU @ OSU next week)

There is very little difference between P5 conferences lately. This is why they need to go to 8 team playoffs.

Has to be the least excited I’ve ever seen fans for the Third Saturday in October. Plane flying over Tuscaloosa is carrying a banner that says "BUTCH, YOUR MOM STILL LOVES YOU”.

is it too late for the NCAA to give the Heels football program the death penalty?

Their 2nd half schedule is pretty tough as well. Unfortunately I have a hard time seeing them going any better than 4-8.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:is it too late for the NCAA to give the Heels football program the death penalty?

Why so generous? They should- maybe- beat the Catamounts from WCU- but I don't see them winning any of the other 3 games. 2-10 is likely the best they can get.Sterling Bigmouth wrote:Their 2nd half schedule is pretty tough as well. I don't really care about football, but if they are gonna field a team I would certainly prefer they do well. I know they lost a lot of talent from last year, but regardless, this year they stink

Let's go Frog hunting. Ribbit, ribbit.
I still can't get over the fact that it's the last weekend of October and there's a number in front of Iowa State when it scrolls past the bottom of the screen.

Your clones are a great story Iowan. I believe ISU can pull this off at home. It's obviously in the Sooners best interest that y'all win out to the championship game, but I'm rooting for you as a fan. I'd love to see a rematch in Dallas.Iowan wrote:Let's go Frog hunting. Ribbit, ribbit.

I'd put my money on OU in the rematch, but just qualifying for the title game would be amazing. If we're out of the field, I'd be pedal down I-35. One of my best friends from ISU lives in Plano.

Not a shot at you, just ESPN.
It's going to make me sick watching the committee find a way to get a 2 loss Ohio State team in the playoffs after PSU wins today.

Honestly hoping Kentucky beats UT today so our AD can just pull the plug and end this miserable era. The fact that Kentucky is 5.5 point favorites last I checked is downright embarrassing. In regards to ulterior motives, homecoming is next week and I’d hate to miss that being that I refuse to pay to watch any Butch Jones-coached team.
Also seeing on Twitter this morning that Swamp’s Gators might be done with Jim McElwain if he loses to Georgia. I’d be absolutely terrified that Florida could possibly hire Chip Kelly or Scott Frost.

Didn't realize until yesterday that Iowa State cracked the rankings. Rooting for your guys, Iowan!
And how 'bout those BC Eagles? Didn't see the final, but they were up 30 when I turned it off. Against the formerly big time program known as Florida State no less. Go Eagles!!
