Re: Recent Purchases
Bargain bin finds. Looking forward to digging into Thurston Moore's book but it's going to be hard pressed to top Jason Bitner's Cassette From My Ex from 2009. The Zombies collection is my second purchase from them. I've always been a fan but only knew the hits. That changed when I picked up The BBC Radio Sessions during the Black Friday edition of Record Store Day last year. This set is apparently their second album (which was only released in Europe and Asia at the time) plus some bonus tracks.

Re: Recent Purchases
My birthday's in Sep, so I always find myself with a little extra change in my pocket this time of year. Kinda went crazy this week.

Re: Recent Purchases
A friend recently said they'd like to listen to the new Lydia Loveless album but they couldn't get past the cover. Not that you're alluding to this but I figured by now folks would know it's about what's inside, not cover art.Flea wrote:That's the cover? Man, that sucks.Kudzu Guillotine wrote:

Of course. But that Wilco cover is fucking horror show. The music might sound like angel choirs on high, but I'm not going to listen if it reminds me of a turd.

Re: Recent Purchases
I'm not crazy about the artwork for the new Wilco (or the album title) but I'm loving the record so far. Maybe it's how some people have said how a poorly done video can ruin a song for them. I understand where they're coming from but shitty artwork (or videos) have never interfered with my enjoyment of the music.Flea wrote:Of course. But that Wilco cover is fucking horror show. Re: Recent Purchases
I like the Wilco cover. Hell, I bought a t-shirt of it. One knock against it is that I don't think it fits the mood of the album at all. Seems like Schmilco and Star Wars could have switched covers.

Re: Recent Purchases
not sure if this should go in the 2016 records thread, but people really should know about these essential reissues:

Re: Recent Purchases
Budget bin find. I have fond memories of playing this on an AM country station in Eastern NC back during the Great Roots Rock Credibility Scare of the Late 1980's. I believe it also won a Grammy for Best Recording Package in 1988.
Re: Recent Purchases
New Releases today on vinyl. First new purchases in quite a while. Psyched about all 3 of these.
