Levon Helm and the RCO All-Stars- Live at the Palladium NYE '77 (excellent Friday outdoor soundtrack); the last few tracks off of Go-Go Boots (because I felt like it); and then I shall pick out something from the Dead because it is Grateful Dead Friday!

Wow Kudzo! You just went there?! Which Mr. Mister? "Kyrie" or "In the House of Stone and Light" Mr. Mister? Yikes, I just geeked out there. I'm enjoying this and the new Mudcrutch a lot. To me this dude sounds a little like early Ben Nichols on some songs.Duke Silver wrote:

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I unfortunately saw Mr. Mister open for Tina Turner at the old Charlotte Coliseum in November 1985. I had just returned 7-10 earlier days from doing entire Grateful Dead fall tour and heinous excuse of a girlfriend dragged me to show with her brother. On the day of the show Broken Wings went #1 or something of that sort, a point Mr. Mister was sure to remind the crowd on several occasions. It was Tina Turner's Private Dancer tour and she was on top of the world. Highlight of show was unquestionably the encore when she announced that she had an early Christmas gift for crowd, she was gonna bring out someone she had worked with before. I groaned thinking it would be Bryan Adams when she says, "Charlotte, would you please welcome Mick Jagger!" He took the stage as if shot from a cannon and they tore the living hell out of Honky Tonk Women. He was in absolute berserker Mick Jagger mode and it was awesome. One of my live music highlights, most likely the biggest surprise I ever got at a show211poundsofpork wrote:Wow Kudzo! You just went there?! Which Mr. Mister? But back to the plot: Mr. Mister sucked

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I hear ya Beebs. I wanted to like the last record and for a little while I did. But in the end, I just felt it was a bit too bland for my tastes. Also, I really couldn't get into Todd Snider's voice. "Wrecking Ball" and "Straight to Hell" were the culprits for me...Beebs wrote:Admittedly, my tastes are kind of finicky these days, but I have no idea what the big deal is about these guys.Clams wrote:I'm having a hard time getting into this record. P.S. I'm just the opposite from Clams on this one. Didn't think I was going to like it as much as I do. I don't like carrots but I like carrot cake. I don't like jam bands but I like HWA. Go figure.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I got turned onto Lucciana Friday night when she performed as a member of HuDost, who opened for Marty Wilson-Piper (former guitarist for the Church) at Schoolkids Records in Raleigh, NC. HuDost were also Marty Wilson-Piper's backing band, Acres of Space. Her solo records are well out of my realm as they tend most heavily towards pop but I enjoy going outside of my comfort zone on occasion.

I dig the jangley messiness. Getting a Strokes vibe. Just came up with that comparison. Might stand by it, might not.
I did not expect the horns.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
What do you think of Psychedelic Swamp? I am a big fan, have all the Dr Dog albums, and this one is my least favorite. I haven't listened to the older ones in a while so maybe there is one I like less, but off the top of my head I can't think of oneZip City wrote:Sunday work playlist:
