Yep - SO psyched for this. I know I won't be the only guy here buying both CD and vinyl versions of this.

I think I'm going to bury my head in the sand, and try to ignore this release. Just another reminder of how close I came to making the trek out for the shows
Then again, maybe I'll be first in line for the preorder vinyl... Yeah, I guess that sounds a little more like me.

Re: live album tidbit
I'm going to preorder it too...but not from the DBT store, unless they offer an incredible preorder extra. I'd like to actually get it close to release date instead of a week or two later lol.GW in IA wrote: Then again, maybe I'll be first in line for the preorder vinyl... The only thing I would change is finding a place for "Natural Light," but this is such an amazing setlist that any complaints are quibbles. Wow.

That is fucking killer.
Loving the sound quality on Birthday Boy. This is the live record I've wanted them to make for years.

Re: live album tidbit
Bolded and embiggened are the tracks with a horn section. They also played Everybody Needs Love on these nights with horns, but I guess that didn't make the cut.TW_2.0 wrote:

Re: It's Great to Be Alive! Release Date 10/30/2015
Pre-order of all the various versions here: http://drivebytruckers.shop.musictoday. ... =407_72052Thrilled to announce that our long awaited live album, recorded over three nights at the historic Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco CA, will be released on October 30!
Our long-time Producer, David Barbe, acquired the necessary mobile gear to record us and flew out to San Francisco to capture our three-night stand in November of 2014. We hired some horns, sold some tickets and played three special and unique shows. From those shows we have sequenced a sort of ultimate live DBT collection, one that hopefully captures the essence of our life’s work into one cohesive whole.
We are releasing two versions...a shorter 13 song version called “This Weekend’s The Night" which provides a "best of version" snapshot of our live show also a larger 34 song box set entitled “It’s Great To Be Alive!" which goes far more in-depth into the DBT catalog and history. Songs and stories spanning thirty years of Drive-By Truckers sequenced to hopefully give as close as possible document of the DBT show.
Get the T-shirt for $15 with album pre-order!
Get the Slip Mat for $12 with album pre-order!

Re: It's Great to Be Alive! Release Date 10/30/2015
surprised they list the venue as the Fillmore Auditorium, which it isn't. It's simply The Fillmore. It was the Fillmore Auditorium in 60s before Bill Graham moved to the Fillmore West at Market/Van Ness but when it reopened in 88, and then again later after the 89 earthquake, it was called The Fillmore and has been ever since
yeah, I know, picking nits but it's one of those things that is easy to avoid.

Very excited. And $60 is a steal for this.
Someone talk me out of pre-ordering. I always do, and I'm always disappointed. But I've got the fever! Can't...help...myself...

I would also say that $15.98 for the 3-CD set is quite a steal! I hope that price wasn't a misprintjimmyjack wrote:Very excited. And $60 is a steal for this.
