Spotify playlists

Post by Clams »

If you've made a good Spotify playlist that you don't mind sharing, post the link here.

My playlists are always subject to tinkering, but that said, here are a couple that I think are pretty good:

Sometimes Late @ Night (songs with a late night/early morning vibe):
http://open.spotify.com/user/1213720562 ... ljsw9VdhvR

Bruce:
http://open.spotify.com/user/1213720562 ... 7jb1WQJNEK

Hiss Golden Messenger:
http://open.spotify.com/user/1213720562 ... mLDi004u6B

More to follow.

I'm not sure this is a very good mix, but it's my "Running Mix" which is over 600 tracks. Actually, I would hestitate to call it a play list, but it does get me through my long runs and some long car rides.

http://open.spotify.com/user/1214541736 ... 4uznxW7zNz

I mostly use Spotify to listen to new music and everything that's on the "What's Everyone Listening to Now" thread, but as you can see from my Running Mix I'm not good to tailoring my list. I did better back in the 80's when I was transferring vinyl to cassettes.

My daughter shares my account with me, which is a pain because we can't play Spotify at the same time unless one of us goes off line, but that takes up too much space on our iphones. We've had some texting battles over Spotify. Thinking about upgrading to the family plan.

Really good list. Plenty by The Fall, and I also saw Husker Du and Curtis Mayfield jumping out at me. Those long car rides must be fun!

This list helped me prepare for a marathon ( three 4 hour runs) and helped me get through the marathon. It's got to be fun.

This was my year end playlist, I think it's probably the best sequenced, most personal mix I've made in years...

I'm hardly an expert - I just kind of discovered him last month - but here are some songs that really caught my ear.

Thanks! I'll have to check out your playlist. I love the first JJ Cale album, but not familiar with his later stuff.

I"m too lazy to look at exactly what the list contains (and doesn't) but what would be the point of doing anything other than listening to the entire albums from this period, which is a contender for best stretch by any artist ever?

Listen bubba, don't get all up in my business. Anyway, I've deleted that list in favor of a more all-encompassing Stones playlist:

Only took me a year and half to upload this one, but it's a winner.

Image

This is a playlist culled from Sloan Simpson's excellent recordings of the three nights of Homecoming 2014 - it's got all 51 songs that the Truckers played that weekend including every song from English Oceans (which had leaked but wasn't yet officially released at the time). I did my best to alternate the Cooley and Patterson songs, plus keeping the songs approximately where they appeared in the setlist each night. I also kept in all of the good banter and stories and Cooley's one-liners ("Now the next time they ring your goddam doorbell, don't be a fucking asshole, okay?"). It's also got Shit Shots and Everybody Needs Love with horns, Primer Coat and World of Hurt with Peter Buck, and Made Up English Oceans back when Cooley switched from acoustic guitar to electric for the final solo. It's 4 and a half hours long and it's awesome.

Initially I was a Spotify skeptic, but now I'm fully in. It's an excellent way to discover new artists and explore different genres of music that might be in your blind spot. It also travels very well. Glad to hear you're digging the tunes, too!
