And now you can.
Don't you think they'll be playing some fall shows to support the new album, too? I am holding on to that dream.

GA Theatre opening for DBT 8/23. That will be a good one. Back to school special, I guess. Still hoping for Birmingham but that is looking less likely although still possible (maybe).

So, in this interview with Sweet Dog (Craig Pickering) he says that The Dexateens on their second tour in Europe were opening for Queensryche! That's a somewhat surreal combination if you ask me.

I was going to try to make these shows, but I don't like the Shakes enough and the shows are too spread out. I'm still holding out hope for a headline show or two. if they were later in the fall, that would be just fine with me.

The Dexateens are doing a headline show at the Nick in Birningham on 8/22 to warm up for the DBT show. See you there, motherfuckers. I'll be the one in the front row with the hair.

Those of you who are not already convinced that I'm a fucking idiot might find this decisive: I lived in Birmingham for a year within reasonable walking distance of The Nick and never once went to a show there. If I drive out to Athens, this might just be my stop on the way.
(If you need a ride back, let me know. We'll drop the top and turn it up real loud.)
The sooner we put those assholes in the grave&piss on the dirt above it, the better off we'll be
Re: Dexateens -lots of info here
Heard a few seconds of a few songs of the new album over the phone! It's all over the place, but in a really good way. There's even a banjo laced version of 13ghost's (Brad Armstrong's) "Broken Objects" which is such a badass song. 13ghosts are incredibly underrated...please check them out if you never have. Can't wait till this thing comes out.
Re: Dexateens -lots of info here
Sure hope someone tapes this show!!! (And will put it on archive , if it is ok with the band)

I don't think he's played with them in years. I'm assuming it will be Lee Bains III and that's the lineup on their FB page.

Re: Dexateens
That's what I figured. I'm stoked, but they are a way better band with John.

I think Lee is going to focus on the Glory Fires. I hope that is not the case and he continues to do both.
Re: Dexateens
John Smith is good, but don't sell Lee Bains short. I saw Patterson Hood and the Dexateens with Lee opening and with the 'teens. He blew them all away.

I think he's going to do both, at least these few shows. There's no conflict between Glory Fire shows and the shows on 8/22 & 8/23. I don't think the Dexateens are going to be playing a whole lot of shows and of course Matt is now full time with DBT.

My understanding is that Elliot doesn't really any interest in being a touring act, but they'll probably continue to make the occasional record, and play maybe 5-10 shows a year, mostly in and around central Alabama. With that sort of scheduling I don't think that really conflicts with Lee's plans, unless the Glory Fires just blow up ala the Shakes. Ditto Matt's situation.
