there's fewer and fewer w/ each passing day, but Wilco's fanbase continues to grow faster.

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
I've somehow managed to remain a fan througout all the eras. I remember seeing the video for "Casino Queen" on 120 Minutes when it was new and seeing them on the Newport Folk Festival tour around the time of the first Mermaid Avenue record but it wasn't really until summerteeth that I became a fan. So, I really don't feel any sort of allegiance to one particular time period. However, I know of quite a few people that feel pretty differently about that than I do.

i can definitely see moving on from a band who doesn't interest you anymore. just for me, Wilco doesn't come close to that.

i'll be home at my folks house on 8/12--i'm so tempted to ask to borrow their car and drive down there (C-bus is about 3 hours away)..and yes I said borrow their car because I have not owned a car in 9 years. Heard that is a GREAT venue..

Ha! I remember that too.
Saw them again Wednesday in Hartford, it was terrific as usual. I can't see anyone not being excited with the live show they put on now. Nels' and Glen's work is just exhilarating to me. And I appreciate that they go deep catalogue too (both shows I saw on this tour included "Laminated Cat"), even if most of the people around me in Hartford only really lost their shit during "Impossible Germany," which actually kind of bores me. To each their own I guess.

Their website shows tour dates from spring of '11. How the fuck is anyone supposed to support a band if they can't even keep their dates vaguely current?

Facebook, I would bet. I held out for a long time but finally signed up about 8 months ago. One of the best things about FB is how easy it makes keeping up with all the things you like (pardon the pun), especially all those bands and venues.

Then take down the website. Would you leave an outdated phone number or address for your business in circulation?

An 11 year old with an iPad could update that while watching cartoons and eating Fruit Loops. I guess they're entitled to the success they aspire to.

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
We've talked more than once around here about the new reality: Bands have to take care of their own careers. Not having an up to date website is stupid, lazy and bad for business.
Those of u who care about the band might mention that to them when you see them (if u can figure out when and where).

Even though I'm on FB, I don't like it when that is your only option to sign up for something or to access content. When that is my only option, I pass.

TCG are hardly the only ones with this problem. I was looking just today for another band's (who shall remain nameless) tour dates and found three old sites (all blog sites where they could obviously be hosted for free) with outdated information plus a MySpace page with 2008 tour dates. The problem was I caught wind that they were in town tonight and I'll be damned if I can find where. I would have considered going but they made it difficult.
