Fortunately the Charlotte Bobcats will continue to suck. We have their unprotected 1st round pick in either 2015 or 2016. That very well could be the #1 overall.

But seriously, lets calm down. Who knows if the Bulls will ever win a championship during this era. Nobody knows, but they are gonna be just fine. Didn't overrated poet Jim Morrison always say "the future's uncertain and the end is always near..." If Miami for some reason doesn't win it all this year, might they consider trading Chris Bosh and breaking up the Big Three?
That is entirely possible.

My point is that Dallas and Detroit and (arguably) San Antonio can win without 2 or 3 stars if they are deep and play defense.

I think Chicago's problem is that Rose isn't good enough to carry a team like Dirk or Duncan can.

Few can. Even Lebron couldn't do it in Cleveland and he's probably a top ten of all time player. The bottom line is that I would be shocked the way Rose plays if he makes it ten years so they have a pretty small window. Better have a plan to complement him and if that means tanking next season then so be it.

That roster LeBron had in Cleveland really didn't have anybody else on it who should have been getting any kind of significant minutes in the NBA at the time. The fact that they even had a winning record with him and the rest is a pretty big testament to how good of a player he is.

I'm with Zip, I think talking about blowing up the Bulls is over-reacting. There is a fair amount of talent in place, they just need to keep adding some pieces. As Zip said, look at San Antonio this year with Duncan and Ginobili basically with one foot in the ground each. Depth, balance, and excellent defense can carry you a long way too.

I see what you guys are saying, and with Coach Thibs I think the Bulls will always play hard and end up with a good regular season record. I also see the point about San Antonio but, even before the Rose injury, has anyone ever thought the finals would be anything but The Heat & The Thunder? Realistically? Scrappy defensive minded teams win a lot of regular season games but in the playoffs it's a different beast. I was all for trading Deng and Noah for Dwight Howard at mid season, but that wasnt going to happen. I'm just saying that there were questions before the injury over whether the current team could compete for a championship and now those questions are even tougher to answer. We'll see.

You've heard of the "curse of the Bambino" right. Well here in Utah we endured the "Boozer Curse" for six years. This is the first year that he's actually played a full season, but the players around him are dropping like flies. Don't pin your hopes on that guy, he'll break your heart every time.

Boozer is just plain bad at basketball. His numbers look ok until you realize that he puts up gaudy numbers against the weak sisters of the league and gets his ass handed to him by anyone that can actually play.

Thanks for that Cortez; I know the Sports Guy is being facetious for most of them but I love what he says about the 99 season:

2. 1999 Spurs
What Happened: San Antonio won the lamest NBA title ever.

The Footnote: Good lord, where do we begin? The lockout-shortened, 50-game travesty of a season started abruptly in February, after a whirlwind of activity/transactions/signings playing off the reconfigured salary cap.
Three months of hateful, unwatchable, tortuous basketball...
You could talk me into this being an asterisk title, but I'm fine with pretending the '99 Finals never happened.

The Spurs have won 4 championships since 1999, none of which they were probably even supposed to get to if you listened to the experts.

I'm not bewildered, I'm pissed. Even without Rose this team should be much better than a bad Philly team but noooooo, they're getting their asses handed to them. This team has some deep soul searching to do.

Thing is, the Bulls have held Philly to under 90 points in the past two losses, they've just completely forgotten how to score.

Oh, and their two best players are out , Deng is playing hurt, and Boozer is garbage

Deng has been just plain bad for months, I hope it's the injury but he hasn't looked like the same player he did last year and early this season. Now he says he's not having surgery at all in the off season, presumably because of his Olympics commitment. That's a problem. Idk, I just expect better and the future looks awfully iffy. I mean there is no guarantee that Rose will be the same player he was before the injury. This too shall pass I suppose, just a tough time to be fan of this team.

Bulls are mentally checked out and that's on them. Thibs is the only one with any fight. They know they can't win a title and are acting and playing like garbage. No fight like the regular season. They know Rose is gone for good and now we have to hear and see all this CLAMS garbage in these threads! ;)

Live it up Clams. You're lucky the Eagles avoided a matchup vs. Da Bears and Jay "MVP" Cutler this upcoming season. Now that's fucking optimism.

Look at Noah's body language walking down the arena hallway pre-game in his boot. Looked like a complete bag of potatos all slumped around and depressed. Sucks to be out a game or two, understand that. Leaders rally the troops.

D Rose on the bench could've been a great thing but understand the knee situation and further setbacks.

They tossed the flag in after the game and questioned themselves. Oh well. They lost their edge and should be able to handle the 76ers.

17 years ago today, Reggie provided me with one of the best sports memories of my lifetime. 8 points in 9 seconds to steal Game 1 from the Knicks in MSG. Even better, John Starks was the one that missed the 2 huge FTs for the Knicks. (I always hated him)

If you look at that Youtube clip I posted the other day, that's the Sixers theme song from back in the 70's. "1-2-3-4-5-Sixers!" soitenly ain't genius, but it soitenly is classic!

Oh, I am! This series definitely isn't over and I doubt that the Sixers will make it out of round 2 even if they are lucky enough to get past the Bulls. The Sixers avg age is under 22. They are a few years and a superstar or two away from contending for anything. So I might as well enjoy it while it lasts!

Bulls held the 76ers to 79 ppg over the last 4 games and managed to lose 3 of those games. Miss Rose much?

A healthy Bulls team rolls the Sixers. Can't blame Paxson for the Bulls' top 3 players all getting hurt.

You can't blame him for the injuries but you can blame him fot not having another scoring threat on the team. Philly is bad at basketball, a Bulls team with one scoring threat would have beaten them in five games. In the end it really doesn't matter because without Rose you don't win championships, but the lack of a second superstar will probably keep them from that anyway. Next year you won't have Rose until February and most likely Deng until December. What do you do? Trot out the same bunch of jokers? I'm sorry Gar/Pax does not get a pass from me.

You play it like the Celtics and hang in for a #4 seed and make sure you're healthy when it counts.

Losing Rose/Noah plus a banged up Deng is like Boston having Rondo/Garnett out with Pierce hobbled. No team is built to have a backup who can make up for an All-Star going down.
