Request - I Hear You Hummin

Post by Smarty Jones »

Hey, y'all - I was wondering if you could help me out. I've been trying to work out a lot of Shonna songs on my acoustic (...because I'm a GIRL..) but I can't find the chord progression for 'I Hear You Hummin' anywhere. I'm sure it's something insanely easy, but a rank beginner like myself needs a guide. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
SMITH: Either I'm dead right or I'm crazy!
SEN: You wouldn't care to put that to a vote, Senator?

Depending on how you tune your guitar (Standard tuning or DBT dropped one whole note down to D etc), its in F, or G respectively

Best to be played in dropped tuning with open chords (If you wish to stay in the same key as the original) in order to get that little "movement" in the bass . For the G chord alternate by moving your finger from 2nd fret A string to the D string. Similar for the Cadd9 chord; move finger from 2nd fret D string to G string.

Progression is something like this (sorry for the dashes. Couldn't find a better way to position the chords with the words)

G
I hear you hummin' while you're driving me to wine
Cadd9 -------------------------------------- G
I hear your fingertips on the steering wheel keeping time
D ------------------------------------ G
We're almost there so I guess we better go inside

etc.

Btw. The original recording is slightly out of key (flat).

It is a basic I, IV, V song.
