A G E D
Working this job is a kick in the pants

A G E D
Working this job is like a knife in the back

B G E D
It ain't getting me further

B G E D
than the dump I live in

B G E D
It ain't getting me further

B G E D
than my next paycheck

A G E D
Working this job is like lighting two fuses

A G E D
Working this job's running out of excuses

B G E D
It's like a dead end

B G E D
where a roadmap is useless

B G E D
Until I'm dead and there's

B G E D
nothing to show for my uses

E G D A
Nobody told me it'd be easy

E G D A
or for that matter be so hard

E G D A
but it's the living and learning that makes the difference

B G E D
and makes it all worthwhile

B G E D

B G E D
makes it all worthwhile

B G E D

A G E D
Working this job there's nothing left but to hate it

A G E D
I won't get as far as my daddy made it

B G E D
Ain't getting me further

B G E D
for all my striving

B G E D
than the dead end I live on and

B G E D
the piece of shit that I'm driving

E G D A
Nobody told me it'd be easy

E G D A
or for that matter be so hard

E G D A
but it's the living and learning that makes the difference

B G E D
and makes it all worthwhile

B G E D

B G E D
makes it all worthwhile

B G E D

C# A E F#
Sometimes I dream that I had aimed my life in different ways

C# A E F#
But there was nothing to show me a way to get out of this place

C# A E F#
So I just did what my Daddy did before me

C# A E F#
Only to find the only door I found was closed to me

D

Solo Chords:
B G E D

A G E D
Working this job, it sucked when I had it

A G E D
Now it is gone and I am learning what bad is

B G E D
Now I'm trying to hang on

B G E D
to the worst of places

B G E D
A family can't live

B G E D
on these fast food wages

Nobody told me it'd be easy...

Thanks for posting the chords. You've got it right, and this is a great song to play. Does anyone know what would be the key of this song? I'm self taught and know enough about theory to get in trouble. Seems like the main verse (A G E D) is key of D with a dissonant E thrown in that makes it unique. But I could be missing the boat completely. Perhaps I shouldn't even think about a key with songs like this. Anyone have any thoughts or insight?
