The frozen kind? As far as I can tell the raw material is still readily available. Do folks not know what the “tater” in “tater tots” is in reference to? 🥔

I've always assumed "tater" is a slang form of "potato."

I got the word about the shortage from a restaurant that is know for their tots but doesn't have them on the menu now. I assume they use frozen tots and other forms of potato are still on the menu which would support that assumption.

 Forgive my attempted joke. I just thought it was funny that there would be a tater tot shortage specifically, in the absence of a broader potato shortage. I had tots two days ago, and I know that a tot shortage is no laughing matter.

It's not easy to make tots from scratch, time & labor intensive. That's why most places use frozen.

Are you offering to make tater tots, Flea? I’d try them!

Pass the ketchup, please!

Agree that this doesn't make sense.

Kenji Lopez-Alt has a killer recipe for tots that he reverse engineered. They’re great and you can customize
them.

I'm sure y'all will be happy and relieved to know that at least in S. FL, Buffalo Wild Wings has tots on the menu and will actually serve them if ordered. Phew!

Homemade tots (w/ bacon!) were on the menu and available last nite at Batch, a fine Southern restaurant in W. Palm Beach. I think we can all breathe a little easier.
