NBA 2021-22

This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

Agreed. Maybe 7 but the Warriors are going to be tough. They're essentially healthy. Hoping they get GP2 back for the finals. He has had quite a year.

I've never witnessed an NBA player charge and travel as frequently as Giannis.

toss up w/ LeBron but yeah.

refs don't call traveling at all anymore. take as many steps as you'd like as you drive to the basket.

Yes. The driving to the hoop part is the obvious example, for which Giannis is one of many violators in a group that also includes Jason Tatum. However, I've never seen someone like repeatedly switch their pivot foot and get away with it like The Greek Freak does. Maddening.

And I've never seen a player flop and exaggerate contact as frequently as Marcus Smart. Tatum is not far behind in how he "sells contact." Best athletes in the world and they fall down like they've been domed when they get touched on the finger (or in many cases for Smart, not even touched at all).

I thought Booker & Paul had no competition after last year's Finals but the C's blow them out of the water.

Smart is definitely guilty of both flopping and exaggerating contact. However, he is a master of baiting people into offensive fouls by giving them hard resistance on the initial move only to go soft/limp the second time around. Kind of like pulling a chair from underneath someone. It will be interesting to watch him match up against Curry in the Finals.

Tatum is crazy talented, but an absolute crybaby and headcase. Second only to LeBron when it comes to whining and demanding a foul on every drive. Definitely has a tendency to force things and hope the officials bail him out if he is stopped.

The only bold prediction I'm certain of is that I will despise Draymond Green unlike any other NBA player once this series gets going.

I generally respect him as a player but he gets silly at times.

I definitely would not deny that Giannis gets away with some charges. It's a superstar-driven league, though he also absorbs more contact that goes uncalled than any player since Shaq.

As was noted, everyone gets away with traveling.

Heartbreaking to see those Boston fans bully poor Draymond like that.

It's not a real playoff series unless there is at least one villain, preferably one on each side. And simply being the best player on a team doesn't make that player an automatic villain, there's got to be that extra element of emotion/"hatred"

RIP Bill Russell, NBA & human race great. He moved to Seattle in 1973 & I got to meet him once. Nice man. He will be missed.

Truly sad day. He leaves a huge hole in the universe. Boston didn't really know what it had in real time and Russell's time here was not easy but thankfully a lot (a majority?) of people woke up before it was too late and the city's eventual appreciation for the man and the player (mostly in that order) was a wonderful example of possibility.
