Favorite Munchie Foods

This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

Post by potatoeater »

We got the best you ever ate thread...but this is a special kind of best I ever ate. Most of us have been there at one point or another for whatever reason...

What are your favorite eats when you got that special kinda hunger...THE MUNCHIES! Post as many as you like!

INPO

1. Butter-Pecan Ice Cream
2. Bacon, Cheddar Ranch Fries from Checkers
3. Crunchy Cheetos
4. Fully loaded home-made nachos
5. Bagel bites
6. Peanut Butter Captain Crunch (Because French Toast Crunch is gone for USA)
7. Frostie brand Blue Cream Soda
I'd like to say I'm sorry, I'd like to say I'm sorry, I'd like to say I'm sorry...BUT I AIN'T SORRY!

I haven't had the special kind in years but once when I was in college we were broke and had no food so we raided the snack bar on campus. The only things free were saltines and grape jelly. We must have eaten 500 saltines with grape jelly and we swore up and down it was the best munchie food ever. Tried it again, sober, a few weeks later and it was terrible.

Yeah, i'm sorta w/ NGB: Ummmm....ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING!!!

But of course some things are better than others:

I'll stick w/ Nathan's hot dogs& fries (at the original coney island location) from the other thread; applies equally well here. Especially in the late nite/early morning hours.

Ice cream in general, but the original Steve's ice cream (w/ mix ins) at the original Steve's in Somerville MA - it was as much the scene and the anticipation (ALWAYS a wait, usually a half hr or more which was not always appreciated in the condition we're talking about, but still...). Favorite flavors were malted vanilla and whatever they called their super duper chocolate (all i can think of is "chocolate pudding" which was from steve's follow up venture, Herrell's).

Pizza.

Choclate chip cookies or brownies w/ a glass of ice cold milk. Homemade and still warm is best of course, but i have to say that i wasn't always all that discriminating.

Pretty much any salty crunchy snack food that isn't very good for you, especially ruffles potato chips (they have ridges, man!).

Oreos are cookie crack. I am completely powerless over them.

Try them fried and you'll hate me for it.

Yeah you keep pimping those fried Oreos. You don't need to mess with an Oreo. It just doesn't sound right to me.

In Smithville, TN at the Jamboree (like a bluegrass festival) I once had a deep fried Snicker's bar on a stick. It looked like a corn dog, it was DELICIOUS! It's awesome what already amazing foods turn into when you fry em!

BTB--i gotta weigh in on the Nathan's hotdogs. Whenever i go out to Coney Island, i'm always unimpressed. I don't see what the big to do (holla!) is...plus they throw cheeze whiz all over the chilidogs and fries...i mean it hardens in 5 seconds. Made a special trip out there when my parents came to visit and it was still gross. Sorry...sounds like you've had different experiences!

deep fried oreos---we have them here at festivals...OMG,....after 1 you get this INTENSE sugar rush....almost too sweet.

deep fried twinkies--had them once in vegas (when you go down to OLD vegas, near Binions, etc)....soooooo good.

I'm sorry to hear that, Penny. Truly. To me, going to the original Nathan's is one of life's great little pleasures. But OTOH, i've never known anyone to get the chili dog or cheese fries. Stick to the meat and potatoes, so to speak, and hopefully it'll work better for ya.

Now you're talkin.

I'd get one with you when I hit Philly again this summer. However, I saw something you posted about touching Patterson's hair while he was lying on the ground and I'm thinking that it's probably not a good idea to go to lunch with you again.

Heh heh. That wasn't me, it was some drunk dude standing next to me. PH drew his fist back and it looked like the devil was in him. The dude almost shit a brick. Pat's - or maybe Tony Luke's - is a done deal. My treat.

And so incorrect. He's referring to Pat's and Geno's at 9th & Passyunk. Tony Luke's is a mile away at Front & Oregon.

Yup. However, I never went to Tony Luke's for my cheesesteaks. A roast pork with broccoli rabe and sharp provolone? Absolutely. So, in a certain sense, I think it is you who is wrong Clams. Ever have a hot beef 'n' cheese at Cherry Street Tavern? Fucking legendary.

At 3:00 A.M. white Castle is some of the best food you'll ever eat. Any other time of the day it's inedible.
