RIP John, my landlord & friend of nearly 40 years. Died early thing morning. He'd been ill but the end came much quicker than anticipated. His daughter is my goddaughter. Task 1 is going to be making sure she's ok. She's in her 20s & has been a trooper. I helped raise her after her mom passed when she was 12. Going to be a long day.

So sorry for your loss. Tough end to a tough year. Hang in there. I hope you and your goddaughter can help each other through the worst of this.

Thanks, Clams. I'm more concerned about my goddaughter. She's in shock now somewhat. She's in her late 20s & lost her mom when she was 12. I helped raise her. Too young for the orphans club by far. She knows I'm here for her.
Fuck that misogynist murderer. Take your Wall of Sound and shove it up your dead ass tunnel.

That misogynist murderer died in prison. Sounds about right. He also was responsible for some great music.
The two things are not mutually exclusive. OJ was once a great running back.
Had to give a mention to one of the greatest bass players ever. Listen to Beck, Bogert and Appice and you hear why.

RIP Hank Aaron. Truly 1 of the all time greats. He was a great man & not just for his baseball career. He will be missed.

RIP Larry King. Another COVID-19 victim. The list is getting pretty damn long. In my circle of friends, there are more people coming down with the virus lately. It's indicative of the overall progression of the pandemic. I don't know what it's going to take for everyone to wake up. I know of a case where a lawyer got sick after a court session with a judge who was anti-mask. He had been very careful to no avail. The tragic part is that his elderly father ended up getting sick & eventually died.

X2
x3. Privileged to have seen him play in person several times. I’ve seen a couple of excellent tributes that really capture the man (at least as I perceived him) including the one by Bryant on ESPN.
Chick Corea's ever evolving music was a large part of my musical education and I will miss him greatly (in a distanced, fan kind of way). Seeing him w/ the Corea/Clarke/DiMeola/White version of Return to Forever at the Orpheum in Boston circa '74-75 was a mind blowing, seminal musical experience for me and even before that, hearing Light as a Feather with the Flora Purim version of RTF, was an ear opening "I'm in college now" genre busting experience for me. I had the privilege of seeing him a number of times mostly in the Boston area, which was his home town and he always delivered. The last time I saw him was at Berklee w/John McLaughlin and he was still restlessly exploring, growing and blowing my mind. I immediately ran out and bought both the albums they had released, which was not the kind of fanboy type thing I generally do (DBT excepted). RIP.

He came to play our little town a couple of years ago. Was a show where he would "sit-in" with the local Corea tribute band (called Made in Corea) for an all night show. I don't think any of the band members are full time musicians, although talented for sure. I thing it says a lot about him as an artist and human being.

Great story. Thanks for sharing.

RIP Roger Hawkins, legendary Swampers/Muscle Shoals drummer. Hawkins along with Patterson's dad David Hood made up 1 of the greatest rhythm sections ever. The list of songs they played on is stunning. He will be missed.

Larry Stein, my best friend from 3rd grade through HS would have been 64 today. He's now been dead for twice as long as he lived. I miss him and regret the life he didn't get to live.

Bryan Max Bernfeld died on this date in 2015. Never forgotten, always missed.
