LOL, "Bostocked" was a verb in my original rotisserie (now fantasy) league: His death being relatively fresh in people's minds, we actually had a rule covering what would happen if a player was truly unavailable (not just injured) during the season. That was a long time ago. Which is not to make light of his murder. It was a terrible thing as it would be if it happened to anyone made worse by the loss of his considerable talent.

I don’t remember how it happened but I became a fan and was crushed when he was killed. I was 12 and at peak baseball fanaticism. Even more so when Munson died the next year. He’s been a very good Immaculate Grid option for me so far

I was at the Munson tribute game at Yankee Stadium the first game after he died. A moment of silence became a spontaneous standing ovation. Gave me (and everyone else, I think) chills. Louis Tiant pitched that nite for the Yankees and pitched his heart out (possibly a complete game, I'm not sure) in a 1-0 loss that somehow seemed fitting in a they would have won if Munson were playing kind of way.

Two amazing 20th century stats from last night's Red Sox-Guardians game:

Tanner Houck pitched a complete game 3 hit shutout. He will no doubt lead the club in complete games for the season. Less amazing but still impressive: 9 strikeouts, 94 pitches.

The game was played in 1 hour, 49 minutes.

The Brewers won a 1-0 shutout yesterday in 2:08, also.

The pitch clock and other rule changes are an overwhelming net positive as far as the aesthetic of the game, IMO. I've been a pretty standard "sit around and wait for the 3 run homer" type of fan for a long time but I'm enamored by the newfound efficiency in basestealing, too. I do think the impact of these rules on pitcher health needs to be studied (and I am sure it is) but I don't think rule changes are the driving force behind all the Tommy John surgeries.
