I decided to look for the above for you but after I watched it, having not seen it in a long time, I thought to myself, "Wow, even though this is kind of amazing, it's also pretty depressing on several levels." But I posted it anyway (too lazy to learn to actually embed, sorry) because it's a thought provoking piece of film and you are a supremely impressive thinker!
I hope you have a wonderful day and a spectacular year! I can't wait to see you in the summer, for some excellent food and discussions!
Love,
PG xx

His facial expression is terrifying. He's basically the equine Chucky.

Re: Happy birthday to Beantownbubba!
Thank you so much everyone. I really appreciate the kind thoughts and wishes.
Yeah, I'd say you nailed that one, 'cept I only watched from the comfort of my chair and did not attend the games. Wow, hard to believe this is the same team that caused Red Sox Nation so much agita back in April.chuckrh wrote:happy birthday bubba! you can go watch your red sox beat up on my mariners if you want to!
Thanks PG for the bday wishes and yes this is a very conflicted piece of history. She is marvelous of course, but like you, every time I see this clip, I find it more and more depressing. What "they" did to Marilyn (and by "they" i mean a whole lot more people than just the Kennedys) was unconscionable and the result remains sadder than sad. I don't usually give Sir Elton that much credit for emotional depth, but he really nailed this one. Oh, and when the MC introduces "the late Marilyn Monroe," meaning she missed her cue and came on stage late, it's chilling.PonyGirl wrote:"Wow, even though this is kind of amazing, it's also pretty depressing on several levels."
Thanks so much, dime. As always I am in awe of your ability to turn a phrasedime in the gutter wrote:hope your birthday is full of inspirational and somewhat brilliant counterpoints to those who are trying to convince you of something.
