Phillies get swept at home by Houston, then travel cross country and sweep the Padres in SD. Go figure.

Re: MLB 2010
Tommy Hanson FINALLY got a few runs and a win!
Heyward continues his hot streak!
I wish Freeman could have done something, but it was nice to see him out there. I expect big things from him the future.
I am in New York, so I was watching the Mets broadcast of the game. At the end, one of the announcers said, "this is just depressing."
I'm still smiling from that line.
They also ran a poll that showed that over 80% of Mets fan felt that it was a bad move getting rid of Francouer. This surprised the hell out of me.
Now, it would be nice to wake up in the morning to see that the Dodgers took care of the Phillies.

I hate to say it, but I've got to give props to the Braves. I honestly thought they'd be fading by now, but just the opposite. Their pitching's holding up, they score a ton of runs, they get comeback/walk-off wins. Of course it helps that the Phillies couldn't knock a little league pitcher out of a game, but still. The Braves are kicking our butts right now. Six head-to-head games from here on out including the last weekend of the season ought to go a long way to deciding things.

Oops. I didn't realize the Phillies had already played, and beat the Dodgers.
the division race is hardly over. It's still going to come down to those 6 games. Anything could happen -Teams have bad weekends.
But about the Braves, you're right. They are not going to go away. The Braves have a real good team this year. Hudson is having a career year, and the other starters are solid. The bullpen is better than it's been in years. The bench is one of the best in baseball, if not the best. The last at bat wins have made this as fun of a team to watch since the '91 worst to first team.

Morgan deserved it.
Why? The Marlins intentionally hit him with a pitch in his first at bat and then threw behind his back in his second AB.

Because Morgan is dirty. The night before he smashed into the Marlin's catcher and separated his shoulder. And then when Volstad hit him the first time and he got a walk, he stole second and third even though the Nats were up 14-3. The Marlins aren't saints but Morgan is a dirtbag.

And apparently Morgan was a hockey player so that explains his primitive behavior.

Gotta agree with Clams...that should have been over after the first time he was drilled.

Back on the field, Jimenez v. Lincecum apparently was as good as it should have been last nite, and how rare is that? I guess Lincecum's back from whatever hiccup he was having. But tough for Jimenez to lose on a passed ball/throwing error combo. And the whole shebang was over in 2:10. Gotta love that.

The Braves are just toying with the phillies, letting them think they have a chance. Thats the only reason Bobby started Kawakami last night.

Not that it matters, but boy was this a painful wkend for Sox fans. The way they blew today's game was somehow both excruciating and inevitable. Wait til next year!!
And wow, the Cardinals have really imploded. Hard to understand from this distance, but i guess when the hitters dont hit and the pitchers dont pitch it's tough to win games.
Can the Pods right the ship in time?
