figure it's time to start this and also figure that this is a great way to start this thread

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/dc- ... 15-chainz/

Georgetown invites 2 Chainz to Hoya Hoops Madness, where he’ll probably get upset by 15 Chainz

http://deadspin.com/radford-upsets-geor ... 1742562180

The Radford Highlanders shocked Georgetown in double OT this afternoon on their own court. The Big South school downed the Hoyas with this late, deep three from Rashun Davis.

My two alma maters (plus pen state) suck at hoops, so I'm basically on standby until March

Can't get here soon enough.

We check in at #7 in the pre-season Coaches poll, yet we're picked third in the Big 12. The two teams in front of us in conference are also ahead of us in the Top 10. The Big 12 will be, again, just a brutal league from top to bottom. Everyone plays everyone twice (home and home). Round robin awesomeness. Only Texas Tech and K-State are looking at no shot at the dance. Should be an absolute wild season for us, hopefully we can make a bigger splash in the Dance, and end KU's stranglehood on regular season titles.

My Wolverines are just outside of the top 25, should be a much better year than last year. Assuming that Carl LeVert comes back fully healthy, I could see them winning between 20 and 25 games this year. The Big 10 should be good. Everybody is talking up Maryland (it still seems strange to type that) and Indiana, MSU and Wisconsin will be solid. Lots of good teams but probably no great ones.

Freaking UK at the top of the poll again, looking forward to them getting knocked out of the tournament and the entire team departing.

Maryland really impressed me when they kicked our heads in in what was basically a home game for us down in KC in the non-con last year. Melo Trimble is a beast.

would be nice to hang 2016 in the rafters and also get them to take down the 1924 Helms Foundation championship- most schools don't count it as a legit banner so neither should we. Don't need to pad our stats as it is

Image

Roy Williams and I graduated from the same high school, it would be great for him to win one more and then put the end-game in place, Not the best in-game coach, and he does, for right or wrong, have the academic scandal stink on him, so I'm good with the post-Roy era starting sooner than later. Just don't let it be another Matt Doherty panic hire this time

You got that right.

How's St. John's looking this year? I've totally lost track of them. BC used to have a top 25ish tournament quality team every few years but I fear that the move to the ACC has just squashed them. Maryland's move to the big 10 did remove one of the bball giants from the conference, but BC is still way way down the pecking order.

Generally I root for UNC. It's not a "from the gut" kind of thing but i do enjoy the season more when UNC's in the thick of things. And now that my son lives in Lawrence, I sort of follow Kansas (sorry, Iowan). Could be a problem come tournament time but I'll cross that bridge only when i have to.

All I know is that Chris Mullin is the coach and that he brought in Mitch Richmond as part of his coaching staff. No word yet on whether Tim Hardaway and Tom Tolbert will come aboard as well

The UConn women are ranked number 1 for now. The rest of the conference is mostly weak and feeble so I'm looking at going to some non conference games:

vs Maryland in NYC
vs Notre Dame in Storrs
at South Carolina in Columbia SC (this game is the Monday before Homecoming…hoping to get down South in time to attend this game)

When there are only like 5 good teams in your sport, being #1 doesn't mean all that much

As they said about Tiger Woods.

Sure, but in this case, UConn has 12 Tiger Woods and everyone else has 12 Joe Shmos

He has a particular knack for swiping the best Iowa high school players, no matter where he's coaching. LaFrentz, Hinrich, Collison, Barnes, and Paige.

I was fairly certain that was part of it. Big thanks for Barnes and Paige

We live and die with Paige this year, end of story

So does Rick Pitino get fired today? Some noises out there indicate maybe.

Not true at all and your statement reveals how little you know about women's college hoops. UConn rarely has the number 1 ranked recruiting class in the nation but regularly beats the schools that do (in the regular season, postseason, or both).

As seen below, UConn has the number 3 ranked recruiting class for 2015.

Those guys are such dorks.

#4-6 all lost last night. Maybe my boys will slide into the Top 5!

indeed they are! the whole lot of them all went to a private school in my hometown, only a few miles from where I live. To me it's a major dark spot

With hoops seemingly starting even earlier than usual I am having a hard time being "all in" from the tip, but nonetheless a day where both dook and Kansas lose is a holiday in this house

had a feeling Heels would go to Northern Iowa and get Ali Farokhmaneshed. With no Paige I am not surprised by this. Beauty of college hoops is that an early loss like this pretty much hurts nothing but pride

I hate UNI, but I chuckle at the fact that Marcus Paige UNC squads (don't care that he missed it) are 0-3 against Iowa schools.

That's what your traitor ass gets.

takes the ACC/Big 10 challenge for UNC to play Maryland, yet Pitt, Syracuse, and BC are all conference opponents. I do not approve :x

nice win for the Heels last night over a very good team, and needless to say a stellar return from Marcus Paige

for those who don't give a rat's ass about Florida/Bama, Gonzaga and Arizona are locked in a good one on ESPN. Tied at 50 with just under 13 minutes left. Arizona just erased a 10-point deficit in the blink of an eye
