College Basketball 2015-16

This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

So I have 3 of 8 Elite 8 teams and 1 of 4 Final Four teams left.

This is why I don't bet on the Tourney

I am 40 points behind the leader in our pool but I have 240 more possible points remaining. I will be watching the remaining games a little more intensely.

FWIW, I read the Miller really wanted the Ohio State job (he coached there under Matta). He and many others were expecting Matta to be fired. When Matta wasn't fired and the Indiana job opened, Miller jumped

I agree, as a UK fan, I was really hoping IU would get Alford because I don't think he's anything special as a coach. I'm much more worried about Archie returning IU to a powerhouse program and having another big-time team in our backyard.

Agree but the program seems to be poisoned since Knight left in 2000. Many thought they would return to being a power under Davis, and then again under Sampson, and yet then again after Crean. All three had the same resources that Miller will. He's no doubt a good coach but so were those guys. I won't buy into them being a perennial power again until I see it.

That said, Miller is definitely the better choice over Alford (though it appears Alford had already turned them down, so they moved on to plan B)

Shifting gears, I keep seeing that Western Kentucky has a top 10 recruiting class coming in next year. How did the Hilltoppers pull that off? Carolina's incoming class is generally ranked in the mid 30s

Kentucky fans might recall when UNC/Kentucky met in the 1995 regional final (pretty sure it was in Birmingham) and this went down

I think you missed my point. I was praising two teams who were previously implied to be soft in this thread.

Congrats to South Carolina, first Final Four in school history. They rebound and defend like beasts, this run is very impressive. Every team they have beaten in this run--Marquette, dook, Wisconsin, and Florida--all have won national championships

ETA: I was wrong above, SC beat Baylor in the Sweet 16, not Wisconsin, and the Baylor men have never won a title. Everything else in the above post stands

And now either SC or Gonzaga will be in the finals. Nuts.

And the blue bloods battle it out for one Final Four spot.

Yeah, this Final Four has all kinds of stories--Gonzaga finally breaks through, South Carolina's impressive run, Oregon back in FF for first time since winning the very first national championship in 39, and then as you said, a blue blood. Man do I love the tournament, never disappoints!

my stomach is in knots for this game, I wish I could be as optimistic as all of these CBS studio guys about Carolina's chances

I wish my local CBS channel hadn't cut away in the final 20 seconds to give a weather update.

But seriously, the station is getting destroyed on Twitter right now.

What an idiotic move by the station manager

Thanks very much, and I know exactly what you mean

Hate that such a great game like this had to be in a regional final, someday our teams are bound to meet in the Final Four (this was the 4th time we've met in the Elite 8)

just saw that 657 people in ESPN's bracket challenge correctly picked this Final Four

I am pretty flabbergasted, that seems like way more than would be expected. I have no problem seeing a ton of people having UNC, Gonzaga, and Oregon, but 657 who also had South Carolina?

Yep. Incredible. Then again, the guy (or gal) who made the decision probably wasn't alive for the Heidi Game. Then again again it was a freaking 3 point game in the regional finals between 2 legendary programs!!!!! No excuse short of an evacuation level emergency.
