post a top 5 list--any top 5 list!

This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

1. Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

2. If you drop a phonograph needle on Brasky's nipple, it plays the Beach Boys Pet Sounds.

3. Did I ever tell you about the time I had breakfast with Brasky? Brasky drank a full glass of liquid LSD with his eggs. Then he slept for eight months straight. When he woke up, he rubbed his eyes and said, ‘All in all, I prefer gin!'

4. His poop is considered currency in Argentina!

5. He breastfeeds John Madden.
1. He sired an entire baseball team. An orchestra if you count the bastards.

2. In 1984, Brasky and I go out for a drink. We proceed to a vacant lot and sit their for an entire year, and low and behold the erect an entire bar around us. When they open, Brasky ordered a shot of bourbon. He downed it, and then lit the place on fire. Over the roar of the flames he bellowed "it's best to leave things as you found them".

3. He taught me how to love a woman. And to scold a child.

4. He sold a man into slavery.

5. He eats live, whole chickens
it was tough to omit these classics:

All the ‘Yes’ album covers are Brasky family photos.

Brasky once got his wife pregnant and gave birth to a delicious 16 ounce steak. The afterbirth was sauteed mushrooms.

He loved extension cords. He hated Mexicans. And he was half-Mexican! And he hated irony.

The character of Johnny Appleseed was based on Brasky – except for the apple tree planting and not raping men.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky was in a production of, ‘The King & I?’ On opening night, Brasky chloroforms the entire cast and slowly eats them in front of the audience for two hours. The production got pretty good reviews.

To Brasky!!!

Since January I've been going through Bob Dylan's entire catalog chronologically, taking on about 3-4 albums per month, with the goal of giving everything a relatively close listen in 2015. So far I'm through Slow Train Coming. This is how I would rank them all so far.

1. Bringing It All Back Home
2. Blood on the Tracks
3. Hwy 61 Revisited
4. The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan
5. Planet Waves

6. Basement Tapes
7. Blonde on Blonde
8. New Morning
9. The Times They Are a Changin'
10. Nashville Skyline

11. Another Side of Bob Dylan
12. John Wesley Harding
13. Slow Train Coming
14. Street Legal
15. Desire

16. Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid
17. Self Portrait
18. Bob Dylan
19. (Sorry for betraying the spirit of the thread.)
20. (Really sorry.)

I feel good about my top 10 and bottom 3. 11-15 are murkier. I feel like I should like all 5 more than I do, but they just haven't clicked. (Except Slow Train and Street Legal...just started listening to those this week.)

Would love to have a good "all in good fun" barstool debate as I see New Morning and Nashville Skyline being well overvalued and, Blonde on Blonde, John Wesley Harding, and Desire undervalued, with Blonde on Blonde as the most egregious underranking

You might be right about Nashville Skyline; there are some real clunkers on there. But then I think about Girl from the North Country, I Threw It All Away, Country Pie, and Tonight I"ll Be Staying Here, and I just can't bring myself to downgrade it.

New Morning is just a personal favorite. I bonded with it at a crucial time in my life and can't even bring myself to look at it critically anymore.

Blonde on Blonde gets downgraded because it has some of my least favorite Dylan tunes: Rainy Day Women, Lay Lady Lay (strong contender for my least favorite song of all time), Just Like a Woman, and Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands.

5 great Deadwood quotes (in no order)

1. What a type you must consort with, that you not fear beating for such an insult--Al Swearingen (I use this one all the time)

2.Wash your fucking mouth. You’ve got seven kinds of cock breath.--Trixie

3. My bicycle masters boardwalk and quagmire with aplomb. Those that doubt me, suck cock by choice.--Tom Nuttall

4. Sayin' questions in that tone and pointin' your finger at me will get you told to fuck yourself.--Cy Tolliver

5a. Get a fuckin' haircut. Looks like your mother fucked a monkey.--Al Swearingen (another we use quite often)

5b. In life you have to do a lot of things you don't fucking want to do. Many times, that's what the fuck life is... one vile fucking task after another.--Al Swearingen

pert nigh impossible to limit it to 5, there are so many classics!

note: "go fuck yourself!" by itself not included due to it being used by virtually every single character in the series

5 best deaths by Spinal Tap drummers

1. Peter "James" Bond--spontaneous combustion, resulting in a little green globule on his drum seat. It was a small stain, actually.

2. Eric "Stumpy Joe" Childs--choked to death on the vomit of someone else

3. John "Stumpy" Pepys--bizarre gardening accident

4. Mick Shrimpton--killed in a mysterious on-stage explosion five years later during the one performance of Tap’s 1982 Japanese tour

5. Joe "Mama" Besser--either returned to the world of jazz or he died.

Jackie Blue is one of my favorite songs ever. However, the Daredevils also had a modicum of a hit with If You Wannna Get to Heaven and to a lesser extent Chicken Train. Really underrated band, at least for the first two albums

The Knack also had a hit with "Good Girls Don't" (#11 on the 'merican charts) from the same album.

While we're on the subject, the REAL Sharona was featured on the cover of the "My Sharona" 45. That picture graced my college dorm wall for a long long time.

They also did a pretty sweet cover of Bruce's "Don't Look Back"

Fun and under appreciated band in my opinion. Sorry for the diversion. Carry on with the lists.
