my absolute favorite Piper moment ever, even better than the incredible albeit extremely racist clip in my initial post: early 80s Piper was rasslin' in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, the rasslin' I grew up on. Pretty sure back then all the TV cards were filmed at the Dorton Arena in Raleigh, NC. Piper was against some scrub who I don't recall but it was someone so beneath Piper's skill level. Piper could have dusted this chump in his sleep but toyed with him only to end things by pulling a roll of quarters from his trunks, inserting said roll of quarters into his fist and finally knocking the chump into next week. Quarters of course go flying everywhere when Piper hits the bum and they litter the ring. After the match Piper is being interviewed by Bob Caudle and he is worked into a frenzy, practically foaming at the mouth while ranting about how no one can beat him. Caudle then says that if he is so great why does have have to use a roll of quarters to win. Piper replies with a shout, "LOOK, MAN, I DON'T KNOW NUT-HIN' ABOUT NO COINS!!!"
to this day that is a quote I use regularly
it was also of course Hot Rod who unleashed Abdullah the Butcher on Wahoo McDaniels on another Mid-Atlantic TV card and Abdullah used a foreign object to nearly carve Wahoo's eye right out of its socket

in our house I use it anytime my wife asks a question such as "is there a reason you didn't ______? And she gets a reply of LOOK, MAN, I DON'T KNOW NUT-HIN' ABOUT NO COINS!!!
even though she was never ever into rasslin' and didn't know me until 9-10 years after, she also uses the quote despite only knowing about it because I told her. Like the insides of that kid Vince V was talking to on last week's True Detective, it's solid gold
You're perfectly content to mind your own business most of the time, but when you get mad, you're mean as a rattlesnake. And that's the bottom line!

“It’s so hard for me to sit back here in this studio, looking at a guy out here, hollering my name! When last year I spent more money, on spilled liquor, in bars from one side of this world to the other, than you made! You’re talking to the Rolex wearing, diamond ring wearing, kiss stealing, whoa! wheelin dealin’, limousine riding, jet flying son of a gun and I'm having a hard time holding these alligators down!”
a friend I've known since the third grade just reminded me of this, and since any day is a good day for some classic Nature Boy, here you go

And now, Black Jack Mulligan is pinned. This is turning out to be a really shitty year for entertainers. They're dropping like flies after a DDT hurricane.

well fuck, terrible news. Loved ol' Blackjack, especially when he and Flair were THE tag team in the Mid-Atlantic. Will never ever forget Blackjack ambushing Rufus R. "Freighttrain" Jones, ripping his leisure suit to threads and destroying the crown fans had given to Rufus. One of my favorite Flair rants had him bragging about him and Blackjack picking up Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt in Flair's Lear jet and heading off to Vegas to get it on For many years (until I moved to Texas) he was the only reason I knew of Eagle Pass, TX (he claimed to be from there)
Blackjack was the father of Barry and Kendall Windham

at this point this should just be a general grapplin' thread
WWE is saddened to learn that WWE Hall of Famer Harry Fujiwara, known to WWE fans as Mr. Fuji, passed away this morning at the age of 82.
Fuji spent more than 30 years entertaining fans worldwide as both an in-ring competitor and one of WWE’s greatest managers. A five-time WWE World Tag Team Champion, Fuji was infamous for keeping small bags of salt in his tights which he would throw into his opponents’ eyes.
When I was really young I saw Fuji and Baron von Rashcke in a tag team match at the Asheville Civic Center and they scared the living shit out of me!

was listening to the Fame Studios Story set and the Wilson Pickett version of this triggered a long-forgotten memory. Sad to see how many people in this video are dead
