Notes to Mods
I don't know who's around this weekend so I'm hoping this is the best way to catch one of your's attention.
I think the email notification of new pm's is not working.
Last nite when I first saw that jamesearlray was our newest member I took it in stride (e.g. my less than flaming post in the newbie thread). But today I'm kinda sorta really pissed. It turns out that I really don't like logging on to my favorite website and seeing the name jamesearlray right there in my face. Especially, as JohnA rightly points out, on this of all days. I'm assuming that whoever it is doesn't really plan to participate here so I don't much care what you do or don't do about the person, but could you at least get the name off the front page?
Thank you.

Re: Notes to Mods
I think it would be a mistake to make too big a deal of this (I'd prefer not to give the member the satisfaction) and now that there's an even newer member, I think the problem is resolved.

Choice of name--certainly odd. Timing--suspect. However, the safeguards we have in place to keep out trolls/spammers were complied with. Time will tell

That caught my eye too. Jumped off the screen at me. I had to look twice to make sure I had seen what I thought I had seen.

In my younger days I did my share of trolling, worst thing to give a troll is attention.
By seeing a thread or posts like these it actually feeds trolls and more pop up.

Sincere question: what's the appeal of trolling? It's just too damn easy, and the time spent doing it could be put to much better use.Sub wrote:In my younger days I did my share of trolling, worst thing to give a troll is attention.

Now it's dark.

I don't waste time arguing on the internet at all anymore.
Re: Notes to Mods
Trolling is a growing problem due in part to societal encouragment of narcissism (selfie anyone?), entitlement, and lack of 'proper' upbringing.
This is what you get when you let Beavis and Butthead raise yer kids.

This is like asking me to dance to the sound of wolves mauling a reindeer.

Proper upbringing.
Hmm. That could mean a hell of a lot of different things.
Hey Cotter!

I don't know. It seems more particular to online psuedo-anonymity and the loss of the empathy that comes with direct human contact.Cotter wrote:Trolling is a growing problem due in part to societal encouragment of narcissism (selfie anyone?), entitlement, and lack of 'proper' upbringing.
The sooner we put those assholes in the grave&piss on the dirt above it, the better off we'll be
