The TV thread

This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

The best thing that's been on UK TV in the last year or so. The last of the current 3 episode run (The Reichenbach Fall) is absolutely amazing.

totally loved the pilot but haven't been able to catch any of it here. Will need to have step son step it up for me!!! Love my Sherlock!!! (though he is no Basil, but then who is ;) )

He's not Jeremy Hardy either but it's damn fine. It's written by the guys who do The League of Gentlemen and the current Doctor Who.

Been catching up w/ Slings & Arrows, out of Canada about 6 or 7 yrs ago. Currently on the 3d (and last, sigh) season.

Season 1: Superb
Season 2: Very, very good
Season 3: I hope they step it up soon

1 out of 3 of us was disappointed in Season 3 (that would be me). Still, very worthwhile and Seasons 1 & 2 are killer.

So, on JUSTIFIED last week, it turns out that Winona likes Kenny Chesney but Raylan doesn't. So obviously their relationship can never work.

New season of Upstairs Downstairs. It's now taking place just before the start of WW2. Typical BBC Sunday night fare.

Finally started season 3 of Sons of Anarchy. The first episode reminded me why i loved the series to begin with. Powerful stuff. The next couple weren't bad at all, and the time just flew, but damn the show's flaws were back in spades. Why, if we're supposed to believe that Jax is a smart guy does he keep doing stupid things? What's the deal w/ that caretaker subplot? Unless that comes up again in some unexpected fashion it seems like a big waste of time and quite silly. And how was it that she, a lonely and lowly immigrant, spoke such perfect English?

I had forgotten how much i hated that female ATF agent, lol. She is EVIL.

Looking forward to seeing what episode 4 brings.

SOA had me hook-line-and-sinker. Never disappoints season to season. A couple subplots and twists in there that make me scratch my head. Looking forward to new episodes but think that's not until September.

I renewed my Netflix. I had to watch the final LOST episode again. I miss that series and Kate especially. I'm at peace though.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, Erd. I'm not thru season 3 yet, so maybe they'll find a way to pull it together, but right now i'm at the yelling at my TV, feeling like the producers owe me money for the time i've spent watching this drivel stage. The plot(s) are now beyond preposterous (about half way thru season 3)... SPOILER ALERT:

We've got a doctor and a porn star, both of whom presumably know a fair amount about birth control BOTH getting pregnant while in non baby making type relationships. Ohhhhkaaaaay. We've got a marauding band of illegal immigrants roaming free around the Irish country side shooting it up, blowing it up and firing it up, all w/out a peep from anyone in authority because security and violence is of course not an issue in northern ireland, right? We have a preposterous triple (quadruple? quintuple?) cross getting messier and less understandable by the second. We've got Jax and Gemma, the smart ones, continuing to accept obviously bullshit stories from people they say they don't trust and getting no closer to the baby that's brought them there in the first place. We've got a pledge assigned to protect a friend and his building from a known (or so they thought) psychopath tough guy. We've got the town's biggest big shot dealing direct w/ a total sleaze, passing cash envelopes in cars. And on and on and on it goes. Oh, and let's not forget the meth head country boys leaving a single woman alone w/ hundreds of thousands of dollars in drugs after being totally embarrassed by said women because....welll...ummmmmmm...why exactly?

At this point i'm only watching out of habit, the desire for some closure of at least some of these subplots and morbid curiosity about how they're gonna get this thing to work out in some acceptable fashion.

Anybody else watching this show? It comes on the Science Channel (no idea why it comes on the Science Channel since it isn't really sciencey). Some of the funniest stuff I've seen in a while. If you can't laugh at someone else's pain and awkwardness, what can you laugh at?

Struggling through Deadwood season 3. Seasons 1 & 2 are in my TV hall of fame, but I'm having a hard time getting invested this season. What's with the theater people all of a sudden? Feels like they dropped in from another show.

Late to the game on it, but the wife and I are really getting into Top Shot. We're about 6 eps into season 1. Really digging the actual competitions--the bickering that comes with a reality show, not so much. Makes me wanna hit up a shooting range.

Never watched a minute of reality television before this season, but 2 guys from my hometown are on the Amazing Race, so I've been watching that for the past few weeks. They are definitely playing up the stereotypical Kentucky hillbillies, but it's not been too bad (or any worse than what our usual portrayal is), and they are currently in 3rd place, so it's been pretty cool to see. Being from a very small town, everyone pretty much knows everyone else, so I've been friends with one of the guys for as long as i can remember, and I've known the other guy for 10 years or so.

Haha, Bopper is the one I've knew for 10 years or so. I worked in my cousin's hardware store all through high school and college and Bopper worked for a local HVAC company, so he'd be in and out of our store several times per week. I've read a lot of people saying that he's playing up to the cameras and putting on an act, but he's been exactly like that as long as I've known him, high-strung, loud and full of energy.

Mark and I have been friends for many, many years. We played softball and basketball together for a long time and he's actually in our fantasy football league. They are both really good guys and like I said earlier, we live in one of the poorest counties in the nation, so this has been a big deal around here and has brought some positive attention to our area for once.
