Re: Pictures of you
just rediscovered these while doing some years overdue cleaning to my office
this was on Willie's 60th birthday, 1993
not certain when this one was, 94 0r 95. I do vividly recall that Iggy was really bad with the flu and he made a bunch of us sick as well. This picture was taken in the afternoon, guessing 2 or 3. I had free tickets for his show that night but by 8 or so I felt so bad that I couldn't make it. Iggy is legendary for being obsessive about vacuuming his house, he says it is a stress reliever. I told him that I mean to bring in my vacuum cleaner to have him sign but was in a hurry. He made me feel horrible, said that would have made his day but instead I let him down. I still carry that shame

WWCD, these are very cool. Remind me/us again what you were doing back then to be able to hang with folks like Willie and Iggy. Thanks

Re: Pictures of you
I was the primary buyer for Tower Records in Austin. In addition to being a buyer I was also a supervisor, making me 3rd in command. We were the only Tower in Texas then and were THE major account between the coasts for all the labels. So though I didn't make a lot of $ (though it wasn't bad), the benefits of the job (free concerts, free music/stuff, labels wining and dining me, meeting & hanging out with tons of legendary musicians) were awesome. My wife was getting her Ph.D. at UT and I was pretty much making all the $ coming in, so the benefits made our lives so much more fun and glamorous than otherwise would have happened. I still miss those times on a daily basis.ramonz wrote:WWCD, these are very cool. Remind me/us again what you were doing back then to be able to hang with folks like Willie and Iggy. Thanks
I was primed to eventually get a job with one of the major labels in TX but we moved to CA when my wife graduated and was hired at Chico State. The label job option went out the window, not much music industry presence out here in Chico

Yeah, but I pay for the beer, the music industry would have paid meClams wrote:But the beer!whatwouldcooleydo? wrote: not much music industry presence out here in Chico
With the credentials I had, I easily could have gotten a job at the Tower corporate headquarters in Sacramento- it was actually floated by them- but I would have had to commute close to 90 miles each way 5 days a week, so it wasn't something I considered with much seriousness (though I did think about it)
Funny thing, Chico had a Tower. Pretty certain it was the smallest Tower in existence- our classical section in Austin was much bigger than the entire Chico store. My regional manager from TX lined up a job for me in Chico but the manager here wouldn't hire me. They didn't have anyone who did what I did in TX- the manager here pretty much did everything- and since he couldn't pay me anywhere near what I made in Austin (sad because, as I said, the pay wasn't great) he wouldn't hire me because he felt I would be disgruntled and a bad influence. I ended up becoming good friends with several people who worked there, and from stories they tell about the shitty manager I know I would have butted heads with him daily had he hired me

Re: Pictures of you
Sacto Chris and I, two days ago at the New Glory Brewing Co. in Sacramento
my wife and I were on the way home from a 12 day roadie and decided to make a stop in Sac at New Glory to see if they had a specific beer (alas, not) but also just to stop (they make outstanding beer). On spur of moment I sent a text to Chris and another friend in Sac that basically said, "come on down!"........ and Chris came on down!
Always a treat to cross paths with Chris, and we had a nice session to boot

This is me on the 4th of July, after a few beers I thought i should crawl underneath this balancing rock. The rock is balancing on the sliver of bedrock to the left and wedged against the boulder on the right.

If you're referring to the hippie with the Terrapin Hopsexecutioner and the box of cookies, that's Yours Truly.

For me, Flea is censored at work, but not at home. At work, I had to drag the pic to my desktop to see all of it. At home, I see him just fine.
Flea is apparently NSFW.
