I sure hope the Cyclones do. I’m afraid they’re one of the only teams that stands in the way of another hellish Alabama/Clemson/Oklahoma/Ohio State playoff.

FWIW after just one week, Alabama (and maybe Georgia) are on another level.

Losing to Iowa is like death, taxes, and struggling to beat FCS teams under Campbell.

He's the best coach we've ever had, but he has things he can't seem to shake and that's looking good against FCS schools and beating Iowa.

That was James Franklin (until last week), whose achilles heel was never being able to win road games against Top 25 teams. Don't know if that Wisconsin win was a blip or a sign of improvement

I thought Penn State was pretty overrated coming into the season but winning in Camp Randall is almost always an impressive feat. My thought was it was a sign of improvement and made me come around to PSU being for real this year.

We'll know soon enough. They play an impressive Ball State team this weekend (defending MAC champs and top 25 last year and returning 20 of 22 starters this year) and Auburn next weekend.

I watched Penn State's game to see what to expect when they play Auburn. I thought State looked solid. Auburn's QB has been bad in road games--hopefully that changes under the new staff. A primetime white-out game in Happy Valley will be the place to find out.

Week 2, the formula

What do you do when you're ranked #2 in the 2nd week of the season?
You play a team from ALABAMA!
UGA host UAB, $, & wins 32 - 3
Too bad Penn St won't be ranked #2 next week.
Speaking of Alabama, Ala St plays Auburn, $. I like this trend, keeping the money in the state.
Aub wins 32 - 3
So Car goes to E Car, $. Not only keeping the money in the state but filling the opposing teams stadium.
So Car wins 32 - 3
UF follows suit and goes to So Fla, $.
UF wins 32 - 3
Alabama host Mercer, $, & shows no mercy.
UA wins 64 - 6
No Car St goes to Miss St & wins
NCS 34 - MSU 28
Beef or pork? I prefer pork butt Texas takes this one.
Tex 37 - Ark 14
Tex A&M goes to Colorado & wins
TA&M 28 - Colo 17
Austin P goes to Ole Miss, $, who surprised me last week.
OM wins 29 - 13
And speaking of surprises, it'll be no surprise when Pitt goes to Tenn & wins.
Pitt 34 - Tenn 28
And finnally, our 1st real SEC game of the year! And it's a cat fight, my favorite.
Missouri goes to Kentucky and gets beat
UK 27 - Mizzo 24

Non SEC games that broke in due to poor SEC performances.
ETSU goes to Virginia-Wise?
ETSU wins 33 - 0
UCLA got into the mix last week by beating LSU but they're off this week.

I'm not totally familiar with Mercer's football prowess, but your predicted score sounds a lot like you expect the Tide to show plenty of mercy, or maybe start the third team. I feel like anything less than 100 points will be a mercy.

But you gotta love September college football. Clemson plays Georgia, and Alabama plays Mercer.

Meh. Thinking I'm going to pass on watching the Iowa game next year. Campbell is a hell of a coach, but he's just never beating Ferentz.

Nope. But these guys never make as many unforced errors as they do when they play Iowa. Iowa's in our heads. Staff and players.

They just sit back and wait for us to fuck up, because they know we're going to fuck up.

Iowa hasn't turned the ball over against us since 2014, which is also the last time we beat them.

Ark over Geo So, 33-10
Geo over So Car 28-17

There were a lot of Auburn fans tailgating and in the stadium. All in orange, you can see them in the upper deck in the photo. It's a long way to travel for a football game, I give them credit.

Friday Night Lights!
UNLV @ Fresno St. After last weeks performance how could I not go with the Bulldogs?
FS 38 - UNLV 27

SEC on Saturday
UGA goes to Nashville and gets a easy win.
UGA 42 - Vandy O
Tex a&m @ Ark who are looking really good right now but will they take the west?
I think not but they win this one.
Hawgs 37 - Aggies 35
So Miss goes to Bama and gets tusked
Tide 52 - Golden Eagles 10
Ole Miss is off so they can prepare for next week.

Non SEC games

I can't believe I missed that one but as Mrs Swamp always says "must be the alcohol talking"
So now Penn's in
Villanova @ Penn St. Luckily they ain't playing basketball, Penn wins.
PS 39 - Villan 7
First Fresno, now San Jose St, what is "the formula" coming to?
Luckily W Mich has experience with Spartans and keeps them out.
W Mich 29 - SJS 17
ETSU @ Samford. The Bucs are kicking butt this year.
ETSU 31 - Sam 12
And finally........drum roll
UTSA goes all the way to Memphis and gets run over
Tigers 41 - Road Runners 14

On a side note Tenn & Fla are playing this weekend and even though they have been eliminated, for now*, I think
Fla takes this one but some one around here still owes me beer! You know who are. I won't call you out like wolf
but would you like to go double or nothing? I may be able to collect this year.
