Well shit, Iowan, I thought your guys were going to pull it off.
Congratulations 4Sooner.
I did too. The moment was too big for them (players and coaches) and there was a little deer in the headlights with the clock management. Oh well, time for some roast Duck.

harsin? what do yall college football fans know about him?
Re: college football 2014/2015/2016/2017/2018/2019
Unintentional, I assure you Mr. Swamp, and my condolences. I was not trying to rub salt in the wound, I literally didn't know and didn't see a reference to the game until after I posted. In this part of the country one can go a long time without intersecting w/ college football at all unless you actively seek it out, which I used to do (former BC football season ticket holder) but haven't been doing so much lately and not at all in this strangest of years.
Week ?, the formula (that wasn't) 2021?

Btb, I know, it was just your timing
I don't think Norte Dame knows what SEC really means.
Big Al walks away with this one.
42 - 16
The question is, who plays Alabama?
Last year they were Ohio (slip in the back door) State.
This year they're Ohio (change the rules) State.
If only they could change the rule so they could beat Clemson.

Boise State did a Friday walk-through on our field several years ago when they played UConn. Seems like a nice dude. Has done a solid job at Boise, but the SEC is a whole different beast. Hope he does well.
Lemons to lemonade. My mama was so happy alabama ain't gotta play clemson.

It's getting close. I've never been more excited for a season ever. I think we end up around 10-2 (but wouldn't be surprised by 8-4) with a couple losses to OU. Although I think we could nip them in the Big 12 CCG (especially if we lose to them in the regular season), I don't want to get too crazy.
Playoffs:
Bama
OU
Clemson
Ohio State
I know, really going out on a limb there. I don't see anyone beating Clemson or Ohio State. I could see Bama losing a regular season game and then refocusing. Same with OU.

RIP college football.
Y'all thought I've been overreacting about ESPN for years. They're literally trying to kill one of my favorite things on the planet. Fuck them. Fuck them straight to fucking hell and I hope OU and UT never win a fucking game again and UT burns the SEC down the way they burn everything they touch to the ground. They in no conspiratorial sense intentionally shit on the Big 12 for years so they could pry away the most valuable properties after they convinced them that the Big 12 was terrible and they wouldn't pay them for being there. This is anti-trust/insider trading shit, straight up.
This is all fucking bullshit.
I hope the rest of college football pushes back on this dumbass 12 team playoff that doesn't require conference championships and what not, which was clearly nothing more than "hey, let's just put half the SEC in here because we're ESPN and we own the CFP and SEC and this is where we place all our chips".
Holy shit, pass the Tylenol.

Re: college football 2014/2015/2016/2017/2018/2019
I bitch about the SEC, but they’re just the unjust beneficiary. They didn’t create this.
I have no way of knowing, but I wonder about this. It usually takes 2 to tango and the SEC folks are just businesspeople like any other. They're certainly no less competitive or cutthroat than any other.

I'm not talking about the Texas/OU deal so much as the history of ESPN crafting a very specific and obvious narrative to benefit the SEC, especially after they become joined at the hip financially.
ESPN basically used their position as the undisputed king of cable sports to create a perception of SEC superiority. Because FBS college football is basically the only sport in this country where public/media perception matters as there is absolutely no objective criterion for post-season participation (other than having 6 wins), this is a really big deal. ESPN also owns exclusive rights to the CFP.
So basically they push a narrative that the teams who's rights they're heavily invested in are better than everyone else, and thus end up with more of "their" properties in the playoffs, and the whole new 12 team model that was proposed without automatic berths for conference champions is probably the most egregious example of this. When you eliminate objective qualifications, you can squeeze more out of your narrative-crafting bully pulpit. When you're the only voice people listen to, you have a monopoly on that narrative creation.
The SEC didn't make ESPN go down this road. They have benefitted incredibly. That's why I blame ESPN the most.
The formula, it's back!

Just when you thought it was safe to look @ this thread.
According to my schedule the first week runs from today till Sept 6, even though there are no SEC games
this weekend.
I will be watching the Hawaii/UCLA just to see if LSU has a chance against UCLA (in their
second game of the first week)
Week 1, the formula. Continuation

OOOOOF
And it's still better at football than the Pac 12 and the ACC sans Clemson.
I'm so fucking sick of this talk of brand and perception and all this bullshit that doesn't make a shit about results. Texas is an 8-4 program. Mizzou is a 7-5 program. Cincy is in the Top 10. Fuck off with "brands" (not necessarily you, just the world in general). UCLA is a "brand" and they had 4,000 people in the Rose Bowl week 1.
