This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

I’ve honestly never minded Finebaum, if nothing else just because I enjoy watching SEC fans of all affiliation make asses of themselves on mid-day TV/radio.

Granted, as a fellow Vol I might be a little biased.

Oh that bugs me for sure. He and ESPN putting the most unhinged SEC fans they can find on just so they can confirm their on bias about southern people. But that isn't what I dislike about him most. He is a rank opportunist who never should have made it this far. But he did.

Exactly a month from the start of the season and Urban Meyer just got placed on administrative leave. Can’t say I expected that one

Bye bye Matt Campbell. It was fun.

I guess we'll have this year to say goodbye. Hopefully the next guy can sustain things.

Just from a couple of minutes poking around over there, it looks like Iowa State has a fun fanbase with a good sense of humor.

Sometimes I look at the Vols’ schedule and get excited and think 9-3, sometimes I feel sick and think 5-7, so I’ll split the difference and go 7-5.

Wins: ETSU, UTEP, Florida, Charlotte, Kentucky, Missouri, Vandy

Losses: West Virginia, Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, South Carolina

Vols got a tough cross-league draw this year.

Yeah, not to sound like I’m complaining but it’s rough having to travel to Athens or Gainesville every year (especially since Florida/Georgia is a neutral site game), and THEN having Alabama as a permanent cross-division rival. Granted, if Pruitt is worth his salt he should be able to navigate it within a few years, but it’ll be a bumpy road.

Also, glad to see the Big 10 manning up to a 9 game conference schedule. It should be the norm, and if it isn't the norm, the committee should recognize it's inherent increased difficulty.

I go back and forth on UK's chances this year. On one hand, we should have the best defensive unit since Stoops has been here (which isn't saying much to be fair). On the other hand, neither QB is proven and I'm afraid without decent play from that position, teams can put 8 and 9 in the box and try to contain Benny Snell. I'm sure these predictions were made with my homer glasses on, but I could see anything from 5-7 to 8-4.

Central Michigan (W)
Florida (L)
Murray St (W)
Mississippi St (W)
South Carolina (L)
Texas A&M (L)
Vandy (W)
Missouri (L)
Georgia (L)
Tennessee (W)
Middle Tennessee (W)
Louisville (L)

6-6 with a bid in the Liberty Bowl

My son just started his freshman year at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, so I've got a new second favorite team to root for.

PSU looks strong with Trace McSorley back at QB. They have a good offensive line and Miles Austin should be a pretty decent replacement for Saquon Barkley. Plus most of last year's defense is back.

From what I understand the Hokies are young but should be pretty good. Their preseason rank is #15. Looking forward to the early matchup at Florida State on Labor Day.

That's crazy early for a conference game.

Going to see my Heels open the season against Cal in Berkeley this Saturday. For me it's Heels hoops and only Heels hoops that matter, but still, haven't seen football Heels since my last game at Kenan in Chapel Hill, either 1990 or 1991 (we moved west in 1992). Plus, it's free- a good friend works pretty high up in some sort of administrative gig at Cal. This will serve as a nice appetizer for Truckers/Son Volt the day after at the Sausalito Arts Festival.

I have absolutely zero idea of what kind of team UNC is supposed to field this year, but I do know that a bunch of dudes will be serving suspensions this Saturday for selling those Jordan shoes. My prediction is that they won't be that good this year and that almost nobody will care, especially once basketball starts

Every few years the Heels sneak up there and get pretty good. I know nothing about UNC, but my guess is that they've got some talented guys.

The head coach is even more of a meathead CHUD than the typical meathead CHUD football coach, I’ll be happy when he is
(Inevitably) shown the door.

For most of my life they were a perennial 8-9 win team, and for a good while they had something like the 2nd longest consecutive bowl game streak going, and the base was more than happy with that, until they weren’t and decided they wanted to shoot for the stars. Now those 8-9 win seasons look like the golden age

Starting the trek to Charlotte tonight for the UT-WVU game. Could potentially be the Vols’ biggest win since Georgia in 2016, and if not at least there’s a good bar scene right next to the stadium.

Good luck, but as an NC State guy, I want WVU to be undefeated when we play in week 3. My best friend from childhood's Dad was an O-lineman at UT in the mid-late 60s, and I'll probably wind up pulling for y'all out of habit.

Y'all would have an easy time with Cal, but you've got 13 players on rolling suspensions for selling their free Jordans. Starting QB and both DEs most notably, but the NCAA is staggering the DEs out of deference to your three championships in basketball.

Trinity Football Excited For Its Chance At A Third-Straight NESCAC Title In 2018
Lost a four-year starter, two-time All-NESCAC QB to graduation. Will be tough to replace. Senior & transfer battling it out for the job.

Lost a four-year starter, two-time All-American at Tackle. Will most likely start a Freshman there. He's talented, but inexperienced. Lost a two-time All-NESCAC performer at Guard. Return an All-NESCAC Tackle, a (will be) three-year starter at Center and a returning starter at Guard. If we stay healthy, we should be solid there. Coach is a legend.

RB is back. Is a very decorated player - NESCAC Rookie of the Year, three-time All-NESCAC RB, All-time leading TD rusher in Trinity history, Captain. Two talented Freshmen will provide depth.

Return two All-NESCAC receivers and two others that started/contributed significantly as Freshmen. Adding a talented Freshman to the mix. Will be a strength of the team.

Defensive line is loaded and deep. Two All-NESCAC returners.

Outside LBs are both four-year starters. Seasoned and talented.

Inside LBs are both newbies. Talented, but green. Talented Freshman will add depth there.

Lost an All-NESCAC Corner. Return the other. Three others in the mix. One Freshman from Chicago might jump right in.

Graduated one Safety and return a Senior Captain at the other position. Senior & Sophomore battling it out to start. Talented Freshman lurking in the shadows.

If we can figure it out at the QB position and the Offensive Coordinator doesn't fuck it up, we should be good. Big "if" on the latter.
