Championship Week, the formula

Post by Swamp »

Swamp wrote:Ta hell with ole miss, did any of yall notice all the teams left in my formula will be playing in their respected conferances championships this week.
I shouldn't have been so quik to blast Ole Miss. After all their loss in the first week brought the American Athletic Conf into my formula. (the announcers, last friday, said the AAC was as good as ACC) After Ole Miss got back in the formula they lost to Cali bringing the Pac-12 into the fold. Toot time, I predicted both those losses.
Friday Night Lights Pac-12
This will be a high scoring afair with whoever scoring last winning. I have really enjoyed Utah football the last few weeks but I'm gonna have to go with the Ducks(Lieske's favorite toy)
Oregon 56 - Utah 52
Same Cat Time, Same Cat Channel AAC
So much to cover and I will be digressing. I got home in time to see most of the last half of the Va/VT game and it was epic, but so was the Memp/Cincy game. I know you had a blast jr, but your answer to my question left me perplexed and disillusioned.*
Where was she? I had to know. After getting bored in the 1st quater of the Burn/Bama game, I went on a quest. Normally I get my answer and move on, but then I'm very superstious when it comes to football as some of you might have noticed in my picks.
The Gator's weren't going to win last Saturday cause I had to work that day and that's how it always works out. So when I saw that
the Air Force had taken the Memphis Belle away from Memphis and moved it to Ohio, that's where Cincy is. That plus beating a team twice in one season much less 2 weeks does not bid well for Memphis. Then I had this dream. I couldn't see the winners but they got a trophy of the Memphis Belle and the whole team got bomber jackets.

Memp 38 - Cincy 35
and the rest as they say is uh er uh, well somebodies history somewhere?

Champ Week (continuation)

Post by Swamp »

I had started watching a doc, Memphis Belle the final chapter in Memphis, when I noticed chuckish** had posted something about a stake and Sabin's heart. I immediately flicked back to the game just in time to see Auburn intercept in the endzone and run it back for a touchdown. It was gonna be a good day.
......and all rest are here on........
ACC
As I stated earlier, Friday I got home in time to catch the end of the VT/Va game and I would really like to see Virginia take this one but I don't think it's in the cards.
Clem 47 - Virg 21
Big 12
Okla's only loss came at the hands of Kan St.
Baylor's only loss came at the hands of Okla. 34-31 very close and as I stated earlier
it's hard to beat the same team twice in one year. That and Baylor's QB is named
Charlie Brewer***
Baylor 28 - Okla 27
SEC,SEC,SEC!
LSU 48 - Ga 28

**Due to failing eye sight, I thought it was chuckish and I thought it was cool, after all my cousin Chuck played for Ole Miss when we first moved to Whidby Is. in the mid 60's. thanks for the props. i live in seattle (politicallycorrectville) & there is some deep OR hatred here. i had a boss who was an OR booster. generally poster boy for republican, frat boy slime so my malice goes deep. Duck the..... well you get the picture. so, UT all the way tonight. if they can get in the playoff, we might want to get the depends concession at FOX. there's money to be made. tomorrow, i have to go for UGA. my friend is from GA & she is hardcore about it. if i want to be kept in made from scratch biscuits, i need to toe the line haha. should be fun this weekend all leading up to my Seahawks hopefully ending the Rams season. GO HAWKS!

The suspense of Penn State's Cotton Bowl matchup against Memphis is killing me. Not sure I'm gonna make it to 12/28.

Don't sleep on Memphis. I've watched them a few times, and they're legit. Bowl games where one team just lost their coach tend to go one of two ways: they're extremely inspired and they roll, or they get their head stoved in.

Rooting for your boys as well.

I've never cared for Notre Dame, and after reading their message board reactions to playing us, I really hope we beat their ass. Kinda like you guys did.

Final 4 & more, the formula

Post by Swamp »

3 of the final 5 teams in the formula are in the final 4. Somehow Ohio St made it in without it's conferance challenging the SEC, if I'm not mistaking. As much as we'd all like to see that LSU/OSt match up, I think Clemson has too much speed for that O St. defence.
Clemson 38 - Ohio St. 27
I believe more teams should be involved in the playoffs and Memphis should be one of them as thier conferance champ. During the first Memp/Cincy game the announcer said he thought the AAC was as good as the ACC and I tend to agree. With this in mind and the fact that I have picked Clemson over O St, I see no reason why Memp can't beat Penn St. and I ain't just picking Memphis cause Clams hates me.
Memphis 28 - Penn St 24
Oregon over Wisconsin 48-29
LSU over Oklahoma 52-17

You're turning into a pundit, Swamp (with exception of a lot of your Georgia picks, but I respect you for making those picks all the more). You should hit the radio circuit with your formula and commentary. Your lead-in song could be the opening guitars of Ronnie and Neil. I'd tune in every week.

Overview, the formula

Post by Swamp »

I got quite a bit wrong this season but the formula itself proved my point. It would be cool to see how other conferences would fair using the same formula.
A few things I did get right,

After the second week

I sat down for lunch toward the end of that game. I saw the interception and figured it was over, then looked at other games for a minute, then came back and saw the final drive thinking there was no way Kentucky would pull it out with the clock running down. Stats say Kentucky went just 6 of just 13 passing ---and they won.
