Minnesota definitely showing some game against Penn State

They're doing well, but the refs are helping them out. PSU receiver got tackled before the 2nd INT and no callchuckrh wrote:Minnesota definitely showing some game against Penn State

Wouldn't be November without James Franklin shitting the bed in a big game. Terrible coaching and play calling, as usual. Minnesota was the better team. They are legit.

Agree he is a great recruiter and a great "keeper of the program" but I cannot stand that slow developing RPO handoff into the middle of the line that EVERYONE sees coming. It's so fucking predictable. If it didn't work with Saquan Barkely, it's not gonna work with anyone else. And don't even get me started on that 4th and goal fade pattern to 5'7" KJ Hamler that had the ball going about 30 yards in the air. I really like Franklin but the losses in close games against top teams is really frustrating. His play calling works against shit teams, it doesn't work against the good ones though.Zip City wrote:Don't always love his playcalling, but he's a hell of a recruiter, and I don't know who a better option would beClams wrote:Wouldn't be November without James Franklin shitting the bed in a big game. Iowan, that was a great game but a tough loss. Bummer man, I feel your pain.

Glaring statistic: James Franklin is now 1-12 in road games versus ranked opponents...Clams wrote:Agree he is a great recruiter and a great "keeper of the program" but I cannot stand that slow developing RPO handoff into the middle of the line that EVERYONE sees coming. As Alabama beat LSU 21-0 in that season’s national championship game, Mr. Shirt and Tie ultimately got to celebrate.Zip City wrote:Anyone who wears a shirt and tie to a football game deserves all the misery that comes their way

LSU is damn impressive, and I wonder what it's offense looks like if it faced an insanely good defense like Ohio State

Week 13, the formula
I really thought Baylor was going to be a contender in my champianship. So now Ok is in hosting TCU, who gave Baylor fits in triple overtime. Way back when we lived in Shanty town we had a couple of horny toads we caught in the dunes at the north jetties. (the encyclopedia said they only lived in the south west) I brought them home to eat bugs in my green house but they ran off with the nearest local lizards they could find. So I'm going with the Sooners.
Ok 32 - TCU 12
Memp goes to So Fla and wins, 42-21
Utah goes to Az and wins, 38-77
Ta&m goes to Athens and wins, 21-O
Ark goes to Baton Rouge and.......and on our first trip to LSU some locals invited us to tailgate with them. They turned us on to some hoghead cheese and killer bar b qued pork.
LSU 52 - Ark 17
Clams is off

Re: college football 2014/2015/2016/2017/2018/2019i
I haven’t posted in this thread in a while because I have been too preoccupied with what’s bizzaro, weird, schizophrenic football team my Dawgs are. This defense is one of the best of my lifetime. There are no superstar players a la Roquan Smith in ‘17. There is no Deandre Baker in our secondary. What we do have is a deep, talented across the board, tough as nails bunch who have had one rushing touchdown scored on them all season. They are a pleasure to watch.
Our offense by contrast is filled with five and high four star athletes, complete with the best left and right tackles we’ve had possibly ever. We have a quarterback in his third year as a starter who quarterbacked his way to the NC game as a true freshman. A third year player at running back in his second year as a thousand yard rusher and we are so deep behind him that two former high school all Americans can hardly get on the field. And yet...watching us play offense is like watching a bird dog try to pass a peach seed. Everything our offense does looks like it’s hard to do. Fromm’s regression is real and it’s spectacular. He looked more confident as a freshman facing Alabama. He missed two wide open receivers last night that were sure touchdowns early and he had plenty of time to throw. I realize all quarterbacks have their favorite receivers but Idont get why Lawrence Cager is such a big deal to him. If Cager can’t go Fromm acts like he’s scared. And George Pickens, Dominic Blaylock, and Kearis Jackson are far from being scrubs.
It’s not all his fault of course. I don’t think James Coley is much of an OC but he’s not the one missing open receivers. Kirby Smart’s offensive philosophy is like owning a muscle car but driving it like a station wagon. Teams play stacked boxes with a single high safety and the corners playing man and we jam it between the tackles on first and second down followed by a back shoulder fade down the sideline which has to be thrown perfectly to work. Fromm’s bread and butter is going fast so we of course play man ball like we are running the wishbone in the forties. Three yards and a cloud of dust. The defense makes stand after stand only to have the offense go out there and go three and out because Kirby wants to get a ten point lead and start bleeding clock in the second quarter. He coaches like a man trying to discreetly fart in church.
But we are ten and one, ranked fourth, and headed for the conference championship against the Cajun Cookie Monster. Things could be worse but this is the weirdest team I have ever watched.
