This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

Ah ha Swamp - your Georgia pick was WAY OFF!

Plus with our thrashing of Auburn, we jumped ahead of y'all in the rankings! Gotta love it.

Now it's Tennessee which should be a good battle - Always a good fight from two teams who have been playing each other before California was even a state.
California became a state in 1850.
The Georgia-Tennessee football series began in 1899.
Why are you posting facts? They are so 2015.

Pre season polls are bad enough, but ranking teams which haven't played in the same poll w/ other teams that have played as many as 4 games? Absurd.

It's insane that college football is even happening right now. What's it going to take, some of the kids die from COVID-19. All for the sake of big money. I guess it shows where the priorities are. At least the NFL players get paid to take the risks & even that seems foolhardy with the second wave starting.

I knew coming in this year that the formula most likely wouldn't work out quite right, but I figured the results would be the same.
Now I might just run out of teams. The LSU/Fla game was a non factor this week since they are both losers and wouldn't have been included this
week anyways. However this game being played in Dec might mean something.
The War Eagles become Chicken Hawks this week as the Cocks go soft.
Aub 48 So Car 6
Tam goes to Starkville and wins.
Tam 27 Ms St 17
Will Sabin be coaching from the big screen ?
Ala 17 Ga 20
Clemson goes to the ATL and wins.
Clem 42 GT O
and the rest as they say is uh er uh, well somebodies history somewhere?

UGA will probably beat Bama then lose to MSU at the end of the season because that's how they roll usually.

I agree beantownbubba - the rankings are silly with seven teams on there who have yet to snap a football.
It's not at all fair to the teams who are playing ( and some playing very well) who have not shot of getting into the top 25.

Those seven teams should be off the list until they and their perspective conferences start playing games.

Hope today's battles bring some shifting in this top 25

Big 10 football kicks off tonight and I should probably be more excited but just can't seem to muster the enthusiasm this year. It doesn't help that my team is probably going to have yet another very disappointing season, with almost all new starters on offense. I expect to lose pretty big to Minnesota tomorrow and by at least 99 when we get to OSU. Go Blue!

Week 8, the formula 2020

Post by Swamp »

I missed last nights Wiscy/Illi game but Wiscy won so they're still in.
Only 2 SEC games today.
Bama rolls north and the Vollies get caught in the rip tide.
Ala 48 UT 17
The Cocks go to death valley where they don't end up in the gumbo.
So Car 32 LSU 24
ACC
Clemson will be singing "I got my orange crush" when Syra comes to town.
Clem 38 Syra 7
Finally the Big 10 joins the game.
I was spending the summer of watergate in Michigan. My Aunt didn't like the gophers digging up her yard
so she offered me a dollar a head but I couldn't use firearms. Still easy money I thought. I would just hide
and wait with a baseball bat but those little buggers were quick. How could I entice them to come outta
the hole while I was standing there. I tried sticking a hose down the hole but that didn't work but I knew
I was on to something. I filled a couple of buckets with water and left them next to the front and back doors
and I waited in the house till I saw one in the yard. Then I ran as fast as I could and was on his tail as he
went down his hole. I dumped the water right behind him, up popped his head and whack-a-mole was invented.
Well maybe not but I like to take credit. I was making good money till I flushed up a nest of babies. I couldn't
do it so my Aunt did and since she did it, she only gave me 50 cents a head. I was done killing gophers.
Now you would think gophers had no chance against wolverines but as I stated above, they are quick little
bastards. The Gophers are Golden today as they beat the Wolverines.
Sota 27 Igan 20
...and last and probably least, the most boring game of the day, Penn St goes to Indy.
PS 13 Indi 9
Yall all have a great day!
and the rest as they say is uh er uh, well somebodies history somewhere?

It's really unlikely that any of these kids die from COVID 19. There hasn't been any spread of the virus via the actual playing of the games thus far. Schools that are having C19 issues are picking it up in their communities, and they've been shutting down games with infected teams so that there isn't spread during competition.

The major schools are testing 3-4 times per week, and doing contact tracing. They do a final test on Fridays. It's really worked pretty well, thus far.

I bet on your boys in my weekly pool and it got me the W. I don't mind seeing Fleck and the Gophs get taken down a peg. Minnesota has to have one of the worst fanbases in major college sports.

Glad that I was so wrong about my guys, the truth is I didn't do nearly as much homework on them this year as I normally do. I assumed that had too many holes to fill and not enough talent to do so. Its only one week, but looks like most of the new guys are stepping up. Milton has a fantastic arm. Even better, he played a very controlled, smart game.

I'm going to be cautiously optimistic and predict we'll beat MSU (which lost at home to Rutgers) this weekend!

It will be interesting as the next wave of the virus is hitting. It's all about the money. If it were me, the risk trumps (sorry) the reward as those kids aren't paid. The NFL is a different beast. Strange & illogical times. Where I live (Seattle) numbers are rising but at the same time more stuff is being opened. Evidently, in typical US fashion, nothing is being learned from history specifically the Spanish Flu pandemic. Granted the tech is better today but the basic parameters of the disease vector haven't changed substantially. Maybe none of these kids will die but they sure are capable of spreading the virus. High cost for the pleasure of boosting the stock market.

Week 9, the formula 2020

Post by Swamp »

Interesting week. 2 losers* are back in, Clemson's QB is out
and Wiscy had it's ticket but it got cancelled.
Boston looked good last week and I think they can edge out Clemson.
BC - 28 C - 27
Mich over Mich St, 35 - 17
Indy goes to Rutgers who beat Mich St easily while Indy just barely squeaked by Penn St.
I'll take Rutgers everyday.
Rut 44 Ind 32

SEC! SEC! SEC!
Alabama, the only consistent team in the SEC. Go figure
@ least it'll be a short trip home for MSU.
Al 52 MS 13
*Show me your pussy! Cat fight in Alabama.
Aubie takes this one Mike, 32 - 30
.....and that's the way it is, Saturday October 31st 2020

Watch Miss St beat Bama then totally suck next week because that's how Mike Leach rolls. Strangely, the Washington State fans I know weren't really all that upset when Leach left. He had a lot of success but could never win the big 1. His salary (& hoops coach whose name eludes me, its early) caused the school to put a surcharge on tuition for all students. That's just wrong.

Nice call on BC-Clemson, swamp! The Eagles didn't quite have the full 60 minutes in them, but they covered by more than 2 touchdowns in a generally impressive performance marred and aided by numerous penalties of the obvious, questionable and dangerous kinds. I don't think anyone but you saw that coming.

Unfortunately his call on Michigan-MSU was much less accurate. Don't get me started on Jim Harbaugh.

Week 10, the formula 2020

Post by Swamp »

S0 happy I got 100% of my SEC picks right.
Wiscy got cancelled again and thanks to Indi's win, Mich is back in.
Mich over Indi 37 - 17
Mich St should have lost last week. This week they do.
Iow over MS 28 - 27
Same with Clemson.
the Domers take it 21 - 17
No SEC games this week, none that are still in the formula that is.
After I get some Dickel and Dreamland in me I'll be back with a prediction
for an insignificant game in the SEC that is being played today.
and the rest as they say is uh er uh, well somebodies history somewhere?

He's an awful game day coach Zip. Has been for years. He's a great recruiter and a great figurehead atop the program, but the team underachieves and loses close games year after year.

Can we trade Harbaugh for Franklin?

On a somewhat similar topic, Swamp might want to stop predicting Michigan victories this season.
