This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

Week 2, the formula

Post by Swamp »

Memphis, the first non SEC team to break into my formula, wins again.
35-10 over Southern University.
Georgia State representing the Sun Belt Conf, but can the no. 2 team in the Southern Conf knock them out of the formula. I think not. Ga St 32 - Furman 12
Miss St will beat Southern Miss. 28-13
Kentucky over E Mich. 27-7
Ole Miss jumps back in the mix by beating Ark. 21-10
LSU keeps Texas on the wrong side of the Mississippi. LSU 34-Tex 32
Alabama struggles with New Mexico St. 41-7
Georgia snuggles with Murry St. 51-O
Auburn shows Tulane why they ain't in the SEC no more. 42-3
After a rough week Florida takes a break. Fla 47- UT Martin 6 (due to turnovers)
As Dorian passes Darien and heads to the Carolinas,
I can't help but pick the Cains over No Car 24-17
Last and the least, TAM fails to keep Clemson out of my formula, they lose 28-24.
and the rest as they say is uh er uh, well somebodies history somewhere?

Until the next UT coaching search, Swamp’s formula is my favorite part of the season.
Turn it up to 10 and rip off the knob

We lost our kicker to Boise State. He tied the Boise State record for field goals in a game (5) last week against Florida State. He also was the Lou Groza Award winner for the week.

Other than that, we should be alright.

I believe my 10 year old learned some new combinations of words during yesterday's Army/Michigan game. Still can't believe we pulled it out, pure luck. My main cause for optimism is that it would be almost impossible for them to continue to play this poorly and be so careless with the ball. Luckily, we get two weeks off and hopefully our best play-maker back before going to Madison. But if things don't change, OSU will beat us by 3 or 4 touchdowns in Ann Arbor in November.

When Maryland crushed Howard in Week 1 I took the result with a shaker full of salt. After yesterday's beatdown of supposedly #21 Syracuse my interest is certainly piqued.

I'm a lifelong Tennessean and I pulled for UT when I was younger. I kinda hung it up after Phillip Fulmer was fired though. With two exceptions they were winning 8-11 games every year under Fulmer. The school and fan base decided that wasn't good enough.......grass is greener bullshit. I've despised every coach since and now it thrills me to see them lose.

UK gets a W but loses starting QB Terry Wilson for the year with a torn patellar tendon on a horse collar tackle. It sucks, especially with Florida heading to town this week.

In hindsight, obviously keeping Fulmer would’ve been the right move, but at the time I still don’t think moving on was bad (they could’ve gone about it much differently, I concede). He was coming off his 2nd 5 win season in 4 years, after a particularly brutal loss to Wyoming (which I was also at, a game notable for weather terrible enough to cancel the running through the T for the first time in several decades). That combined with nearly a decade of not winning the SEC and getting beat by Florida was just a perfect storm for his “resignation”.

I contend to this day that Lane Kiffin was a fine hire. His personality fit the fan base to a T (no pun intended) and his only season here saw decent enough results, but he had his eyes set on the west coast from day 1. Derek Dooley was a terrible hire, no one will dispute that. Butch Jones wasn’t the worst of the bunch, but they let him stick around far too long, and it’s looking like Jeremy Pruitt won’t be long for Knoxville either. I hate to say it, but a decade’s worth of mismanagement has killed the program for the next few years.

Butch Jones had a decent year or two but he made me cringe when he spoke. A vapid, uninteresting, cliche spewing, type A wannabe.
He literally said his team won the"championship of life"..............yuckaroo.

College Amesday this weekend! I'm not going, but that's going to be fucking wild. Our fanbase's (and really it's a statewide thing) desperation for validation/recognition on a national stage is something outsiders are usually unprepared for. It will be one of the largest, rowdiest crowds in the show's history.

I'm not as optimistic about our odds against the Hawkeyes. Campbell is going to try and out-Ferentz Ferentz and it's not going to work. He's got it figured for holding our own against a Big 12 style of play, but you don't beat Iowa by trying to play their game at them. You have to take risks, keep them off-kilter, use a fast tempo, etc. You can't run 3 times and punt on 4th and 1 from their 38 yard line.

He was damn impressive. I don't know if I've seen enough to put him ahead of Tua, Lawrence, or Hurts but he's right there.

Also, if the Texas guy hangs on to the wide open 4th down in the end zone, Ehlinger is probably in the conversation. Although I think Burrow has a lot more NFL potential than Ehlinger.

And he couldn't sniff the field at Ohio State. The richest teams have a spoil of talent. Glad to see that they set up a system now where students are punished for being sold a bill of goods

Agree completely. On this front, it will be interesting to see how Jalen Hurts continues to pan out at OU. Under Lincoln Riley he thus far looks better than Tua this year. Of course, OU hasn't played anyone worth a shit (and won't until conference play starts).

Crazy to think that at one time both Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes were at fucking Texas Tech simultaneously.

Week 3, the formula

Post by Swamp »

Even though last weeks picks were easy, I still feel a little cocky after a 12 outta 13 result.
Speaking of Cocky, So Car has a chance of jumping back in, (Laughing very loud),
if they didn't get Alabama cock blocked. Ala 42 - So Car 15
Clemson 41 - Syracuse 14
Memphis 49 - So Ala 21
Miss St squeaks past Kan St, 21-17
Georgia has another tough one. Ga 62 - Ark St 9
Ga St, now these guys should be feeling cocky. Ga St 42 - W Mich 38
Wyoming over Idaho 24-23
Ole Miss over SE Louisana 38-O
Burrow plays Northwestern St by himself, LSU 63 - Nowestern St 10
Auburn over Kent St 38-7
No Car over Wake Forrest 28-25
Florida goes to Lexington (one of my favorite road trips) and as long as they
don't stop in Corbin and ruin their appetite, Gators will be eating pussy.
Fla 69 -Cats 8

Really look forward to this every week. Thanks, Swamp.

But I have to say I had no idea half these schools even had football teams. This part of the college schedule baffles me.
