Polar Vortex wtf???

This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

I'm good, and would assume the same for GW. The tornadoes were 2 hours south of me and probably 4 hours from him.

My buddy came 1/4 of a mile from losing his house, and one of our employees on the farm got caught on the edge of the really bad one in Marshalltown, with a load of our hogs. The slaughterhouse we sell through lost its roof, and our guy had to wait for several hours before they could find another place to go. Glad he came out unscathed.

Wait and listen for the guy at the end (he's in the background).

Actually raining here, just enough to technically call it rain, but rain nonetheless. First rain here since April, which is pretty typical

And it passed.

We're looking at rain for 9 out of the next 10 days. We've doubled our average annual rainfall 2 out of the last 3 years. We legitimately might not get the soybean crop out this year. That has never happened, but you can't harvest them in wet weather. Corn won't be a big issue, but I'm beside myself at this point.

In those 9 days you’ll probably get more rain than we’ve had all year: right now we’re at something like 16 inches for all of 2018

Our historic average annual rainfall is right around 30".

I bet we've had 60 this year, and we definitely had that much in 2016.

I don't think we're getting 16 in the next 9 days. Jesus, I hope not.

Damn, it typically takes us three years to get to 60!

Nonetheless, like most of the Central Valley, Chico is ag-centric (is that an actual word?) AF

Yesterday's high in Little Rock, "this strange little city", was eighty. Today it won't hit sixty. Which is not really fair, because sixty hit me and I'm still hurting from it.

Polar Vortex Splits Into U.S.-Chilling Rings
The polar vortex—the swirling winds above the arctic—has fractured into three rings that will spread freezing temperatures through the eastern U.S. in late January. What do you think?

Not rubbing it in- well, not totally ;) - but this is bad: we have serious mosquito issues in the north valley, so when we have such mild winters they aren't killed off like they are when we get colder winter temps. It gets rough, we have issues with West Nile and all other kinds of mosquito-borne diseases. Nothing to laugh at. They fucking eat me alive

I am a good bit overdue on mowing my yard. Between mild temps and regular rainfall, the shit just keeps on a-growin’

-34 today. At least my vehicles all started!

Crazy part is that it's supposed to be 37 on Saturday. 70 degree "heat wave" over 3 days.

That's a 74 degree upswing, followed immediately by a 55 degree downswing. You don't see it in the screenshot, but they're calling for a 30 degree upswing all the way back to 15 next Friday.

I'm already at the farm shop for the day, and went outside about midnight to start all our vehicles and let them run for 20 minutes to keep batteries charged.

It's pretty gnarly, but once you get past 0, it's all pretty awful, IMO.

Middle TN was a nice 50 degrees earlier this week, it’s currently about 10 and snow is pouring down. The school I work at didn’t close until kids had gotten here, so it’s made for a fun morning.
Turn it up to 10 and rip off the knob

I opened the door. He went outside. It's nice, because when it's cold as hell, my dog shits very quickly. In the summer, I have to take him for a walk to get that turd out.

Even now, after all this time, I got taken in. I couldn't believe that Trump's quote/tweet on global warming was real. But it turns out it is.

It can now be said w/out fear of contradiction that he is stupider than the average 12 year old. And millions of people follow him. Millions!

Snowed overnight- no accumulation and it was gone before anyone was up. Nonetheless, first snow of any kind in our 23 years here. It was 37 at 10 AM today, pretty certain it is the first time we’ve been below 40 at any time after 7 AM in our time in Chico
