I am genuinely shocked by this at the level of "There's no way Bill James would ever say anything like that." Assuming that he did, he just blew 30 years of messianic, difficult, ground breaking work. I will never think of him the same way again.

I liked Baines when he played, but it never entered my mind he was a Hall of Famer. That was completely out of the blue.

Baines was a good DH, but getting in ahead of Edgar Martinez is a crock.
