Goodbye 2013...Hello 2014

This forum is for talking about non-music-related stuff that the DBT fanbase might be interested in. This is not the place for inside jokes and BS. Take that crap to some other board.

Goodbye 2013...Hello 2014

Post by Tequila Cowboy »

Kind of a random thread. What was good about 2013? What was bad? What are you looking forward to in 2014?

The good:

- Married the love of my life on 1/20/13 in our favorite home away from home with some of our closest friends in attendance.
- Settled in to a nice life here in Mississippi.
- Worked hard on opening up my new territory here in the south, learned some of the highways and byways and got some good new customers.
- Saw a lot of great music including 9 DBT shows, the Double Decker Festival in Oxford, MS with the second to last Blue Mountain show, a Slobberbone show, James McMurtry, Jason Isbell, a great day in the sun in Waverly, AL with great music and great friends and most recently some great music in Little Rock, AR with more friends and music despite some horrible weather.

The bad:

- Lost our friend Craig Lieske only days before our wedding. Always missed.
- Seeing some friends going through some tough times.

2014

- Lots of great records coming up from DBT, Dexateens, Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires, Centro-Matic and lots of great shows to go with.
- House painting projects to get done and some other home improvement.
- Digging in to my new territory even more and really growing my business in the South.
- Suprprises that we can't even guess at yet.

It's great to be alive!

Happy New Year friends!

For a brief second I thought we finally had the explanation for Zip's contrariness.

Then I remembered he was just as contrary the year before.

Saw some great shows in 13. Started a new job that has really been great for me and my family. My daughter is healthy and happy.

All I want in this new year is a continuation of that. As long as everybody is healthy and happy, the bills are paid, and we have enough to eat, I am good. To me that's the definition of rich.

Turns out they were filming an episode of "Honey Boo Boo" there - keep an eye out for us on TLC! (or not).

2013 was a good year for me. A very good year. Not perfect, but so much of what I have been working on as my personal goals has come together. As a result, I find myself happier more of the time, more resilient and able to cope with the bad, and able to use the positive feelings to my advantage when contemplating some of the big stuff. Like Cole Younger, none of this has much to do with material wealth, but I am much richer for it.

I will probably see fewer shows in 2014, because, well, gotta be a little bit prudent from time to time, but I will see my share, and maybe some of yours. Otherwise, if 2014 would just sprinkle in a little romance for me, things would be about as good as they can be.

My friend cup runneth over. I am a lucky woman.

Not too much to complain about here, either. Hoping to move on to a better job this year, but I'm fortunate to be employed in a job that I at least sorta like.

Every cloud has silver linings, but holy hell there were a lot of clouds in 2013. When the bell rung, I felt like a boxer in need of a good cut man.
Here's to another lap around the sun in 2014, hopefully with fewer bumps and potholes.
Not forever, just for now.
